I've found with rmaing a monitor that dpd where really easy to deal with. They dropped out too me two days after I organized a replacement with hanns with a new monitor in hand and collected the old one at the same time. (While I think of it, Hanns server and warranty are awesome especially considering the value of there stuff)

I just sent back a mobo to them and they were spot on...they tested it as soon as it arrived and a replacement was sent straight away..
I posted it to them myself and got a refund for the postage...(36euro)and they put the postage cost into my credit card...Im very happy with there service..

Cool, hopefully I have the same response as this. If so I will have to thank them with another purchase of a second 290x, block and backplate :P

Well it was more playable in games until it would black screen as it showed lower fps but had no frame pacing issue so was smooth 100% of the time where as if the 7970's went below 60 they would stutter.
Now its just a paper weight :P

Your running 3 monitors though???
Ive only the one 1440 and the 2 7970`s are flying it since I got the rig on water..
Bf4 never gets under 60fps on ultra...Best move I ever made was watercooling.
Got both cards wound up to 1250/1700 @1.3v...

One 290x would be a fair bit slower for you then. You would be much better off sticking with them.
I mostly wanted the 290x as can have an xspc backplate on it :P
My cards sagged a lot with the weight and it ruined the look of the rig, a full backplate would really help the look of it with a straight card.

As much as it sounds amazing it is still romoured to be only 30hz.

I would prefer to see some 1440p 120hz monitors to become more affordable then 4k 30hz

There are loads of 60hz 4k monitors coming out next year. If this was not 60hz I would hold off buying it. If its 60hz I would absolutely love one :d. Too bad I've already spent all this years wages on planned purchases already :P.

I doubt It'll be 30Hz , I cant see many people buying them if they are.

Like I said, its a rumour. If its 4k 60hz for 699eu then it is a fantastic ground breaking product.

At that price it probably is 30Hz and aimed at the budget end for creative professionals, where it won't matter. In video editing or graphic design for example.

The 28" is a 30Hz TN. The more expensive 24" is a 60Hz IPS. Dunno where I read that, but it's legit.

Yea I heard this also, taught maybe this was just another monitor they where going to sell for a bit more though.
Too bad, much better waiting on the other screens coming later in the year that are 60hz.

If PC gaming is a romance, then DirectX represents the high-school era. It's the thing that's passing notes between your games and your graphics cards, possibly while getting a bit bashful and giggling. Cute as this image is, it's hardly the most efficient way to foster a relationship. Step in AMD's new low-level API, Mantle, which has been designed to allow games to directly access GPUs. That sounds like a good thing, although it's going to be awkward when Battlefield 4 realises that your graphics card has been seeing other games behind its back.
At AMD's CES conference, Battlefield 4 was demoed on-stage running the Mantle API. It was presented alongside the claim that it could run "up to 45% faster than the original version on this same hardware." Meaning, up to 45% faster than the DirectX equivalent. You can watch the relevant section at the 31 minute mark of the below video.
Really, there's not much we can tell from the footage - especially when it contains a couple of embarrassing lag spikes. If AMD's performance quotes are accurate, though, it'll be a welcome streamlining of performance. Mantle is currently lined up for support in over twenty games - both current and upcoming - including Battlefield 4, Thief, Star Citizen and Sniper Elite 3.
It'll be interesting to see how AMD plan to handle multiple vendor support. Mantle is designed specifically for GCN cards, but AMD have also claimed that certain functionality will be supported in existing modern cards. That could also include Nvidia. While there must be a temptation to keep the tech proprietary, it'll be difficult to promote mass adoption by locking out a significant portion of the PC market.

Whats the second hand CPU market like ? I have a 4670k only a month old which I might get rid of and get a 4770k ( can get it at a good price )

They usually hold a fairly decent resale value, because if they are working they tend to stay working for a long time.

I'm usually alot more comfortable buying a second hand CPU than pretty much any other type of component,

Yeah I see what you mean. Just looking on eBay and used ones are not a million miles way from the retail price :eek:

Only problem with ebay is Irish stuff never sells on it because of the expensive delivery costs
