I notice a few of the posters are commenting within a few minutes of the opening post. Have just read the whole story and it took quite a long time. So I call shenanigans on their reflex action. It's a deadly story really and well worth a read.

Wow! That's some story. Welfare fraud is the least of it. Kidnapping and abandonment of children, presumed murder, identity theft... and several adults wondering who the hell they are.

Hi, I was identified by the FBI as Paul Joseph fronczak, the kidnapped baby from Michael Reese hospital in Chicago, IL. ... I was abandoned in newark nj on July 2, 1965, found in a stroller outside a variety store. I was placed in an orphanage. When the FBI found me, I was placed in a foster home and given the name "Scott McKinley." I have just found out that I am not Paul Joseph fronczak. I need help to find out who I am.

Turns out the woman was real, but welfare fraud was the least of her crimes (neglect, kidnap, possible murder, etc.)
She had so many different identities that no-one can really be sure who she was, same for the various children she trafficked (& neglected).
Bonus weirdness: Voodoo, affairs & her racial ambiguity!

It's actually well worth reading! It's a really incredible story.
