Just tried using my card and it was declined, tried to check balance online, but service unavailable.

Is there something up with UB at the moment?

I'm not with Ulster Bank, but I hope the rest of us manage to get paid this time though. I'm paid on Thursdays I wish they would come out and tell us whether we will be paid on time or not, it would give us the opportunity to prepare.

Last time my work place paid us by cheque on the Friday and paid the few who banked with Ulster Bank in cash. They screwed up last Christmas aswell and we were paid late... :mad: Thankfully my employers are reasonable and sorted out Ulster Banks mess quickly.

I went to them shortly after the last issue, assuming they'd be as safe as houses after the last meltdown. Fortunately I moved to PTSB when UB started charging fees.

I'm a bit worried by that logic...bit like buying a car that just blew it's engine but got patched back together- -cos surely now it'll be perfect.. dropped like a hot snot would have been more my way of looking at it..

I just thought they would be paying a lot more attention to their IT infrastructure after a f*ck up of monumental proportions. At that stage, it was a one off. Now they have a history of f*ck ups. Glad I got out in time.

In some rural areas they still have open branches while others are closing down.

Guys, anyone that's with Ulster bank, check your latest transactions. I've just checked my account and there are multiple debits for the same transaction.

Exact same thing happened last time before their entire system crashed and burned for the month. Shower of useless bastards still haven't fixed their system.

Is anyone else having problems with PTSB? I'm having trouble doing anything online and I've called their open24 number a few times and it keeps hanging up on me. It's supposed to be open until 10pm.

I had a problem this evening ordering from Bershka. I have AIB Visa debit and the payment has been debited from my AIB account twice but it hasn't registered as an order on Bershka.

I got my issue with permanent TSB sorted but there was a problem with their online banking system. I was able to do what I wanted over the phone (after ages on hold) but still a pain in the ass. I hope there's not going to be lots of problems with other banks as well.

Haven't used my UB account since the last cockup. Not affected by this cockup as the account is empty. The first time I have them 'one more chance' was when they arbitrarily closed my account while I was in Oz for a year. No apology or explanation. Opened a new account. The next cockup was when I opened an SSIA with them and they managed to get the dates mixed up. SSIA went into arrears and was closed. No apology or explanation. Then last years mega cockup of course. This current cockup is a minor cockup, but is a cockup too far for me.

Now I know I don't mean much to UB. I'm only one lil' ol' customer. Of course, if not for all the prior cockups, I'd be doing all my banking with them. I finally got around to closing my account today. Of course, they had the cheek to ask for the balance I 'owed them'. Apparently, since their new charges came in earlier this year I'd been accruing a monthly fee as I didn't maintain a sufficient balance in the account. I refused to pay of course.

They didn't get an apology or explanation either.

A friend of mine is with Natwest which is also been affected and he had his account drained of everything but £100. He only got paid last friday.

That happened to me the last time, double car/mortgage payments. They actually put my account in the red because of their fcuk up and then sent me a letter to say I had an unauthorised overdraft!

UB used to be a solid operation with local IT support, then RBS took them over, got rid of everyone and moved the whole show out to India. Chaos ensued!

They are a classic example of how a poorly outsourced operation will soon come back and chew the ar3e clean off you if you make a mess of it. You need to maintain some local staff with some technical knowledge, you can get rid of so many, but when you strip your IT staff to the bare bones and send everything offshore you'll soon find yourself facing this kind of situation, especially when your systems are from "War Games" era (matthew brodericks finest moment btw".

A case of the pigeons coming home to roost.

) is still really good, I don't pay bank charges and despite all the technical problems over the last year, I've only been inconvenienced once. Obviously some people could end up being badly stuck because of an outage but personally, I haven't been.

I actually got paid a day early yet guy who sits next to me wasn't paid at all. Thought I was loaded when I checked my balance last night and then realised it included the wages I thought I was receiving today.

Last two cock-ups haven't affected me (although the one last year did) so unlikely I'll change banks at this point but it is very concerning.

I switched to UB originally for the free fees. Now there are no free fees, but they still seem the best of a bad lot.

The UB online system is miles ahead of BoI and AIB. Didn't notice any inconvenience because of their recent crash, which is more related to their UK parent I believe.
