Hit 8l/100km (35 mpg) on a long motorway run (2000km return) at an average speed of 115 km/h in one of these. 9.8 l/100 (28mpg) in town and on city motorways/dual carraigeways over 4 days.

Very very comfortable, very smooth gearbox, very well built inside, much better IMO than Merc or Audi gearboxes of the same years (I've no experience with BMW's of that era).

I have an '01 9-3 with an automatic and it's a dream to drive. I'd buy that at the drop of a hat if I was in the market for one, admittedly I prefer the estate though, has nice wheels too. Ad seems to be honest enough. worth a look anyway.

Depending on what is reason, many things can put EML on, many of them not significant too.

I think that car bangernomincs not fixuper.

After the previous 'discussion' on this matter a while back, I think its best we just say its a fixerupper and not bangernomics.

Still, for someone who wants a capable 4X4 and doesn't mind the big tax, it could be haggled down to a 'good buy'.

Anyway, did a DD search for Frontera max €2k and came across this 2001 Volvo C70 convertible with 'recent NCT' asking €1495 or willing to swap for a SWB Frontera!

Intermittent fault, proper diagnostics outfit (Bosch centre) said it was some kind of issue with the ignition circuit. I completely ignored it. I could reset it with my phone (after pluggin in a €15 bluetooth OBD2 dongle) while driving

First time it happened was 5 minutes before I brought the car for the NCT. I was brickin' it because I didn't know the engine management light is not an NCT fail

How long is a piece of string? I had a manual one and in stop start local short trips with a cold engine you'd get about 15MPG. On a long trip with the car fully loaded with 5 people in it, I got 40MPG with a light foot. The automatic one will be a bit worse.

It's a heavy large 2l petrol car. They're all pretty much the same tbh

FFS, under whatever Act that is in force, you can be done for using a mobile phone if the said phone is in contact with any part of your body. I think the parliamentary draughtsperson was trying to close off the possible defence of no-hands holding the phone between your ear and shoulder. Stop with the vibration alert jokes already! :P

Not the most desirable model being an automatic, but if the car checks out okay then it'd be a good buy. These are beginning to thin out now, this one is approaching 20.

650 though, if you got €100 off the asking and spent it on some second hand toyota alloys, you could do a whole lot worse than that car.

One good thing about the 3S-FE engine is that is non-interference, so no bad news after the timing belt fails.

Could you imagine how confused someone would be after getting that call at 4 in the morning?

Not the most exciting or desirable car, but easily one of the most reliable and economic ones to run. Buy for €750-800, if it goes through the NCT in 12 months then you get your money back, if not, you'll still get €500 as they are very sought after. Cheap tax and insurance too.

Something a bit bigger here, economical and reliable, NCT till 04/14, might be a bit pricey at €1500 but worth a look. They look good in white too.

That review is for the older 2.8 diesel and 2.2 and 2.3 petrol years 1991 - 2003
Year of one I posted is 2004, would this be a newer model ?
