It has been all over games magazines and games websites as well about cut off dates and possible shortage and kids read these and would of had enough cop to pester their parents to go in and see what the story was, I know when I was that age I would of, it has been mentioned in papers from the Star to the Indo and even Ray D'arcy has done a few pieces on his morning radio show on it. I was referring to the fact that both the PS2 and PS3 suffered from vast shortages on their launch, that is why I pre ordered back in February, the demand for the PS4 has doubled in comparison to the PS3 launch.

He thought I was blowing things out of proportion but when he got talking to the staff in the shop he realized his error. Have to go into GS tomorrow and see what my options are regarding the Watchdogs bundle I had ordered.
v3ttel wrote: » Nope. I originally went for the Watch Dogs bundle. Changed it to the bundle with Killzone, extra controller & camera as soon as the news of the Watch Dogs delay broke. My order hasn't been updated, but I think they said it would be within 7 days. I'd feel a lot happier if it was updated, especially seeing as I had to fart around with changing my original choice. It should be fine anyway, but I'll be a bit nervous until I actually open the PS4 box on the day. Earlier in the year they sent me the wrong delivery completely (basically, stuck my label on someone elses parcel)..... and then when I contacted customer service, the item I ordered was out of stock so all they could do was refund me :pac: They were very nice about it, and it was probably a 1 in a 1,000 thing, but please no mess ups with the PS4 orders, lads!

It's still 5 or 6 weeks to release day. I can see why people think that it's quite reasonable to order one this far away from launch. In fairness, how many things do you have to pre-order months in advance? PS2 was launched nearly 14 years ago. PS3 was launched nearly 7 years ago. Current, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, may not have had children asking for a console back that long ago, etc. Also, wasn't the PS3 launched in March? Santa didn't arrive for another 9 months, so any delay wasn't as big of a problem. Hopefully everyone who wants before Christmas will get one, regardless of when they pre-ordered/order.
Xenji wrote: » In fairness if people are only ordering now and do not end up getting one till after Christmas they only have themselves to blame, they have had nearly 9 months to put a pre order in.

Xenji wrote: » What stores do you have close to you, it is a real mixed bag, Harvey Norman seem to be the only ones offering bundles to those who had not pre ordered before the 20th of July and a few Xtra Visions, you are leaving it very late, even later now to get a bundle. You should just go with Amazon but at this stage you may not get offered a bundle and will be behind months worth of other people, but at least you can cancel your order at any time.

My nephew wanted an xbox one for christmas and i had to tell my sister to put her name down for one just to be sure, only for that she would have assumed she could have walked in at any time and buy one. Cant really blame people for not knowing.

The truth is no one really knows. Some messages (like the one above) have been very positive. Some from the retailers, less so. Remember, the retailers go with the worst case scenario so they can cover themselves. If someone guarantees one and you don't get it, it looks pretty bad. On the other hand, if someone can't guarantee it, and manage to pull it out of the bag, that's a much better situation. That's why they try to guarantee the absolute minimum they can. (ie: Amazon cut off date was 6th of August, and people who have ordered in Sept have day one release estimates - and not estimates they automatically assign....they only assigned the estimates later on, when they were sure of stock). Take all stock predictions with a fist full of salt. Nobody really knows what the story is.
