The Restaurant Recommendation Thread

There's been a crazy number of threads recently looking for restaurant recommendations, so I'd like to start a specific thread for it. Please post below about your favourite restaurants - why you like them, what price range they are, what type of food they serve, if they have an early bird, opening hours if you know them, where they're located. If you could include a link to the website, that would be great. The more details, the better. This is not a thread to post negative reviews - there's a thread in the main Food & Drink forum for that if you like. Basically, I want this thread to be full of recommendations, not positive and negative reviews. That being said, you can disagree with a recommendation briefly if you really feel the need to, but you must have a really valid reason such as an awful experience, rather than "I don't really like the food" or "It's too expensive".

Was in there a while back (just for wine, no food). Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit again to try the tapas.

Was out in Serendipity Cafe last night. Didn't realise they opened evenings, but they are. Food was good, place was clean. Nice atmosphere. Prices were reasonable. 2 courses 22 euro, 3 for 30 I think?

Menu was small, maybe 5 mains. But that's ok by me.

I actually don't know, but it seems like it's a bar that's serving food. As in bar first, food after, so I don't know how good it'll be.

I've just seen the FB notifications for "6ix" on the BDSM feed actually.

Found it!

Their facebook page seems to be mostly "look at how shiny we're making it" at the moment, but hopefully there will be more food info soon enough.

While there I found this place - L'enoteca. Anyone tried it? I'm such an avid fan of Italee for pasta I'm not sure I have the heart to go anywhere else unless it's pretty much guaranteed to blow my mind!

Yeah, they've got signs up in the window. I've passed it a few times and always read it as sixsix.

It's 6ix - the building is 6 Bridge st. Going for a South American vibe one reads today.

Free FOOD in Henchies next door starts at 6pm every fridays, all u can eat and THEN go for a glass of vino next door in the Tavern.

FREE FOOD = ARTISAN BREAD + A lot more !

Hi folks, can anyone tell me has "Zanzibar" closed down or what? Last 3 times I was there it was closed, 2 Mondays and one Thursday afternoon. I am from Killarney and used to always eat there when I was in Cork. I ate in The Thomond when it was closed but would be great to go back to Zanzibar again. Any info appreciated, cheers

Market Lane is good for walk-ins. They have some nice veggie and fish options on the menu too.

Went for dinner there last night. It's my favourite restaurant, and I have to say I've never had a bad meal in there!

What do people think of Jacobs on the Mall? Have never been but thinking of booking Christmas night out there for myself and a group of friends. Menu looks good and there appears to be an early bird menu available at the weekends also.

Well, I've been a looong, long time ago. I'd say it's changed hands, chefs and everything else since then :P

I did drop in to have a look about a year ago. I wanted to book a dinner around Christmas for a bunch of people. The menu was fine, as far as I recall, but the evening I dropped by (Friday evening in December) the place was really quiet and that's what put me off.

Cheers for that - that's a bit strange alright that it was so quiet at that time of the year - you'd image it would be heaving!

Went to Bierhalle the other night. It was only ok. Had Schnitzel. It was basically breaded gammon steak. Having lived in Germany I know my schnitzel and know whats good and bad.

The beer was good though and the wife enjoyed what she had. The price was reasonable as well. I would probably go back, but would try something different.

Trick with the Bierhalle is to stick with the pizza!
