Whats happening

Got the black /653 in Cork this evening.. €659 when i gave the reservation code, showed the email, they called the manager and a quick override and asked for €488..
Funny thing was the same TV was on display with the €488 price

I had them rang, they said 20.05 thats it, I arrived at 20.02 they said I was lucky one minute later they were closing the door! Bit of a brief moment re price but thats all sorted now!

This tv is cool, does way more that I thought, I'll need a few days to get into it all!

Over 10 scattered around the country.

Obviously, peeps who reserverd or ordered for collection but then decided against it.

This is annoying for those of us who would've have bought at the lower price but couldn't find any stock.

I don't like the Argos 'reservation' system, they should make you leave a €5 deposit, that'll stop the time wasters.

Yep the HDMI CEC is active on all ports out of the box.

Nice little surprise for me also.

Well impressed with this TV so far for the price.

Check out the 1080p landscapes app on the Sony portal to see the clarity that this bad boy can do.

The girl behind till talked to the manager, I talked to the manager and he said they would have honoured it if I collected on Wednesday, but not on the Thursday (I got reservation very kindly of Rock2009).
I argued as best I could but there was no budging.
I didnt have the original email/text so maybe that didnt help.....

That's really annoying, since many others bought them at reduced cost after the increase in price... I hope to collect one today at reduced price... Hopefully they'll go on sale again soon and you can pick one up...

Just got mine in Dundalk (cheers for the forwarded email Delice). The oul one behind the til asked me what day I reserved it and I said a few days ago when it was €488. She shouted back to a colleague and said she had another one. So Got it for 488 didnt even have to show the email.
Gmisk: I think you have a case for calling them and sorting this out. Get a copy of the mail and text. Change the sender number to 'argos' in your phone address book just in case they are being arseholes

Call (or call into) the shop in particular and ask to speak to the manager and state your case, and even point him/her to this thread as a reference that other shops are honouring at point of sale.
YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE.

Call me paranoid but who knows; the guy could have had his on it himself.

Delighted to get this tv yesterday at €488. Can anyone tell me the best display settings to put on it. I'm not impressed with the picture so far but I'm sure I can sort it out with the right settings. I'm with UPC and have connected with a scart from the upc box to the tv.

You need to use a HDMI cable if you want a good picture.
Scart was invented in the '70s and it's rubbish by today's standards.

Got my TV today in Dundalk, asked for the new price but I just explained I reserved it at the lower price & showed her the email I had printed.

She just asked when I pre ordered it & I said last weekend, she called another staff member over, then said no bother - 488 it is so!

Very nice chatty staff, said a few people were in getting it today & it was an unbelievable price!

Gotta set it up tomarrow as I have to head out.
