does anybdoy know where i can buy a Devielle fire front door for a fireplace with a grant fitted boiler, hursts in castlebar and stove centre are out of stock cant seem to find them anywhere else, boru dorus way too dear at over 600 euros couldnt justify that for what is only half an inset stove really, i presume Devielle are foreign made while Boru are irish and typical rip off, Devielle were retailing at 270 to 300 euros, or any other makes out there??

Has anyone any feedback on the boru doras? Or is any other door better? In theory it sounds great but do they work? Have concerns about cracking the chimney breast and heat in living room.

One supplier said fitting one should increase heat output by 60% to rads. Just can't afford a stove so like the idea of these.

Boru firefront fitted last Thursday, so had a couple of small fires just with wood found that it was quite controllable when you have bottom vent open you can hear fire draw well then when closed the fire died down. Last night I lit it with smokeless coal and I have to admit I was impressed, I got fire started with newspapers scrunched up then some dry kindling at this point I left door slightly open then I started to add the coal and closed up door this was at 4.30 at 6.00 the fire was running well so I experimented with the air and left top one half open and bottom one open slightly and left the fire like this, at 1.00am the fire was still glowing , the radiators were warm and that was without the dampner open for back boiler, I got up at 7.00am there were a few red coals and the living room was at 22c. So far I am happy with this door and I reckon it will definitely work for all night burning

Thanks dbdee77. If you don't mind how much did it cost to buy the door and get it fitted. Do you have to use smokeless coal. Where did you get it?
Did anyone say anything about the chimney cracking to you? This would be a big worry of mine.

Hi Dueaug, you can burn logs, peat, smoky and smokeless coal. I fitted my own they have the fire rope on them and the instructions are a gift. I bought mine up north but I have seen them on done deal brand new for 420e. From what I know the fireplace has to be properly constructed for solid fuel eg expansion and so on but if your fire is back boiler it should be fine. They don't recommend you fitting to a fire without back boiler as there is a possibility of chimney overheating as I read on another forum. But regarding my own its lit again tonight great heat and coal def lasting longer, I hope this helps you could email boru themselves who would explain it better but i'm happy with mine well so far lol.

hi i just purchased a Deville fire front today
fitted it in about 30 mins , no problem
cant seem to get the fire to keep going without opening the door
anyone got any views or answers
help please as i dont want to have wasted my money

yes i have its is not heating rads at all
only way i can get it to heat is leave the door slightly ajar
but that defeats the purpose of having one

mine seems to be working a little better today
heating upstairs rads no problem ( but hot water rises on its own )
downstairs ones only luke warm ,but the living room is roasting

The fire door has no bearing on how the heating is working.If you have a problem with the rads heating that's nothing to do with the door but a heating system issue.
The fits door is only slowing down the burn rate

What way dies your pump comeonis it on a switch or a stat check that.
What's your hot water like is it better or worse than before.
Sometimes it can be as simple as getting used to the burn rate/air control the more air
As I said the fire door does not make the fire hotter or colder it's the way it's used that does that.

went to fit it today and one of the wing nuts had no thread on it and the bolt didn't go all the way through on the back of door, brought it back to the shop and 2 more fresh ones out of box had same issue. the one on display worked perfect- new batch didn't, so going back tomo, to get new one or money back. headwrecking- had a fella sorted to help me fit it, only noticed problem about five

Good luck with it, what type of door did you get. I am looking at the De Vielle door in Joyces of Headford in Galway, they are only 250 euro, so am a bit worried at the difference in price, they also sell the Doras door for 400.

I have no connection to this shop just saw their brochure whilst googling Deville firefronts after reading this thread.

Hi guys I fitted my deville front
I have a grant triple pass back boiler and it was way too small so I had to bring the whole back plate 4 inches forward to be able to get a decent stick on
I have to say no that it works great
But I just have to make a new mantle and fire surround to accommodate the 4 inches
I now works great but it takes a little bit of messing with the vents to get the best results

Hi Slaney, I didn't have that problem as mine slides but what I was told if I did have that problem was to trim the baffle plate back which comes with fire door because you need the damper to divert the heat to back boiler, hope this helps. Dee.

cheers d, will i need an angle grinder to do that, is it the baffle, the black plate that's the problem, would it be no good to take damper out - will i lose heat . raging now

Hi Slaney, I bought the boru door and it came with a baffle plate and you fitt it on with two nuts, I asked the fella if there was a problem with damper lever what should I do and he said trim it back. The damper moves the heat to your boiler so to me if you removed it your boiler would heat up but not to the same heat, saying that I find I haven't needed to adjust damper at the minute. What door did you buy?

hey d. i bought a de ville, but when i opened the box it has boru on the glass, so since they are both made in the same factory, someone made a mess up. i rang both numbers on they're pages, de ville said take it out, boru didn't ring back yet. so confused, i can't take the battle off my door

If de ville are telling you to take damper out try it and light a fire and see how it compares from what it was before if you ain't happy you might have to cut baffle back abit to allow for the damper worth a try.

fitted the door ok, but radiators don't seem to be as warm as they were without the door, should the damper be open or closed now for better heat to raditors
