Concrete cost for driveway

Hi All,
Does anyone know what the approx. cost for 42 m2 30n of concrete would be and is this strong enough for cars and vans?
It would be 4" deep.

That's around 4 m3 if concrete (half a load) at around 75 per metre. You might have to pay extra given its only a half load.

No idea of its thick enough. I guess it would depend alot on conditions under the concrete.

So does that mean the cost is €75 x 42 = €3150.00 ?

I wonder would block pavers be cheaper?
It would be going on top of the existing driveway but with the tarmac stripped off.

just curious, why do you want to change to concrete? was the tarmac giving problems?

No you only need around 4m3 at 100mm. So its around 75euro*4 + half load charge + reinforcement + formwork + plant hire if needed (whacker plate etc) + labour

The tarmac is aging and breaking up near the roadside and I also need to make it wider to take another car by using up some of the garden.

If you poor concrete straight onto the tar chances are the concrete will crack aswell. You will need to completely break up the old drive way.

Instead of wasting money on half load charge just get a bit of extra concrete. around here 5 cubic meters is the minimum with no extra charges. So you could go a little deeper for same money as 4m3 at 10cm deep. But on your question of 4" concrete for cars it should be fine.

we just got imprint concrete driveway in today. have no idea about size but it is a mid-terrace house with enough space for 2 cars.

Hi all,

I got a quote for 61 sq m of imprinted concrete for €5k from guy who has done a lot of local houses lately.
Paving stones from Tobermore are €4k with 2 x local contractors.
The 61 sq m include a part of the garden for another car,11ft across.

I am just trying to justify the costs and see if I can get better value as there is just a weeks work I am told on the project.
Does anyone know of a cheaper but reliable contractor in cork?

I have no idea of the cost of imprinting. But 61m2 at 10cm deep is 6m3 or at 15cm is 9m3 and concrete is €80 ish per m3 seems a lot extra to me. But I have no experience of imprinting so maybe there is a lot of work involved
