OK, I KNOW this is AH, so yes, I'm expecting the standard of response to be along the usual AH lines.....

but anyway.....

Someone rings your doorbell and says "hi, I'm doing a consumer survey, could you help by answering a few questions?"

assuming that they're presentable & clean, would you answer the questions?

Depends if i am busy or not, and what I feel the survey is gouing to be about.

Id it is about something i'm slightly interested in, chances are more likely.

Someone from Galway IT called to my gaff years ago.

They were doing a survey on drink and health and wanted to know only about the last week as the range.

Not a good week to do it, I had 2 going away parties and a birthday so when he asked how much I had drank it took some time to count it out. It worked out at over 100 cans (slabs were 24 quid next door) and whatever else i drank that i couldn't remember. Behind him was a huge pile of cans from in the bin and all.

He then asked about food and health in general. My food that week had consisted of chicken kievs and beans, that was about it! He asked about veg and fruit and told him i didn't eat any, he asked if i meant this week and i said no, as in ever, beans and peas is about as far as i go.

Asked about exercise and again none. When he left the house he did seem quite confused (think he was shocked I was still alive or healthy at least) and asked could they ring me in a few years to follow up.

They rang me a few months ago, and again it was after a boards beers and crap so again my beer intake had spiked so all my answers were pretty much the same.

I'd love to see the results of the study but i forgot to ask about it when i was on the phone and it was a private number so i couldn't call back.

I do surveys because I have loads of friends in market research and its nice to be nice.

People who don't answer the door unless they are expecting people are weird damaged people and should seek professional help.

Market research is only a load of balls used by incompetent company directors to hide their own failings.

Yep, I do quite often. Its a bit of a pain in the arse but I know the person who's doing them is only trying to earn a living. Seems rude not to help if I have the time.

I was fixing a puncture on my bike one time and was approached by someone. I thought that he was going to offer to help (not that I needed it mind) but instead he asked me would I mind completing a survey... He was lucky the pump was on the ground or he could have been filled with even more hot air... :mad:
