The only reason I can imagine for buying a Mazda 6 petrol bangernomics is that it is a very reliable modern enough car. A washing machine like appliance that will get you from A to B without hassle. Never mind it having one or two options more or less

Even though I am no fan of the Mazda 6, they aren't all that bad to drive.

i'm not a hater of them either. as unkel suggested a reliable modern car (in petrol form) and not a bad driver. there a few nice examples around too.

it just pains me to see a car spec'd so "paddy". walked past a 132 reg golf just there yesterday, steel wheels, no front fogs. i always wonder at people like that, i'd rather a 2 year old car with a bit of kit than a brand new reg plate attached to a rubbish bin.

fortunately for me i have a 15 year old starlet :pac:

Or maybe they just do very high mileage and needed something cheap, economical and with a warranty

I calculated that if I worked in Waterford and had to do 600 miles each week, I'd certainly go for one of the newer diesels that was as cheap as possible.

Especially as it is only 167 bhp and FWD!

That is only 17 bhp more than VW got out of the 1.9 TDI (The red T, red D, red I, mark 4 was 150bhp)

LPG Volvo estate. Convert it into a commercial and you've cheap tax and reliable, cheapish luxury motoring. It should give the equivalent of 45 MPG when you consider the price difference between LPG and petrol. And it's not a bad place to sit for a year or so, you'll probably get the same back for it when you sell it.
NCT 05/14, €950, on sale for a week so could be got for €800.
