Pirating Netflix originals.

Do you think its acceptable to pirate from the Netflix original series? Netflix offers a fantastic service, imo, and €7 is a very reasonable fee for such quality and quantity of movies/series. I'm happy to hand over my €7 every month just for Breaking Bad alone, and currently working my way through Orange is the new black as well which I'm happy to pay for.

Yeah, they don't have all the movies you want to see, but what they have got is still worth the price of a chicken dinner. I understand not everybody shares my opinion, and I also wont pretend I'v never pirated anything, but I feel good service deserves support.

I don't see why you would, you can stream it in 1080p instantly instead of waiting to download it. I love netflix the tv shows on the US one are worth it alone. 7 quid a month is nothing, that's the price of one drink on a night out for me. (JD and coke)

I was resistant to Netflix until I tried it and really liked the selection of tv shows. It's not perfect but it's worth it when you want to power through long series. Before getting netflix, I was watching the X Files and would keep forgetting which episode I was on, would struggle to find quality links, would watch mis-titled videos spoiling future episodes, etc.

Netflix is miles better in that respect, however the movie selection is laughable and I do hop between Netflix US and Netflix Ireland which they would probably consider piracy.

Is it not on freeview? Also, isn't internet piracy law down the drain now we know the NSA can decode anything? Unless somehow it's one global law for one mob of crazy americans and another law for everyone else.

Piracy will eventually be cracked down on. We'll fight it for ages but powerful people are losing too much money to have it go on forever. It won't go away totally but it'll become more risky and harder to do. And I want people who make these things to earn money, I'm just not willing to pay €30 for boxsets and €100 a month for sky and the likes to show me what they feel like showing. Services like Netflix are an acceptable and reasonable compromise.

I've been paying for it for a while now, flick between us and ire. Have given my password and email to family members so they can enjoy it also. It's worth it alone just for House of Cards and Breaking bad....roll on the new episodes of House of cards.

On Sunday, I might just go to the local Chinese restaurant and pay a tenner for the all you can eat buffet.

Might stop in to my Indian afterwards though for a few cobra beers, and their select of Indian ice cream.

Not gonna pay though, and it's the Chinese fault for not providing me with the Indian beer and desert.

Boards.ie doesnt like people talking about the specifics on how to watch other netflix regions. But all you need to do is change your DNS settings. Just do a google search or even search youtube. Can't link you cause of the Boards.ie rules.

if you have an irish ip address that website will direct you to the irish one

You need to change DNS settings to get the US one. There is a good chrome plugin to do so. it's also easy to do on ps3

Unless you use linux as your media centre. I have a pi as mine so netflix is unavailable for me. Their loss not mine.

Both I'd say. Hopefully Linux support will come soon.

It's a good service and a much better way to tackle piracy than legislation. It deserves to succeed though, it doesn't need "support". Actually the fact that it doesn't need support, specifically the support of heavy handed legislation, is one of the main reasons it deserves to succeed.

I signed up for Netflix a few months back. My best value purchase every month is my Netflix subscription! Over the last while I have watched most of the Netflix Original shows. Arrested Development, House of Cards and Orange is the New Black are very very good. And I have no problem paying a reasonable price for quality stuff.

Getting Breaking Bad as soon as it airs is a massive bonus as well. It would be great if they could do the same for Game of Thrones next year!

Is that because of Silverlight? If so they are ditching that completely for html5 soon (though DRM remains, understandably) .

The free streaming services are a good alternative for those vision impaired people whose time is worth absolutely nothing.
