We should add in an addendum which envisages the type of stupidity shown by the megane driver, and the ignorance shown by the golf driver. OP (of the video) completely not at fault.

vibe666 wrote: » here we go. no i didn't, i didn't force him to do anything, he was already braking for the other car in front and i had plenty of time to get round and back in again and in reality he was hardly braking at all. the car behind me also followed as well and the oncoming driver stopped to let him and a couple of others past the van.
The_Nipper_One wrote: » I don't think CiniO is trolling, he's technically right that you probably shouldn't have overtaken given that you impeded the other cars progress necessitating that he stop. It isn't an acceptable excuse that he was already slowing for the other car, as 1. it's not really good practice to follow a car through an overtake and 2. once the car infront of you had gone the guy coming towards you had right of way. As for him letting a few more cars overtake; what was he supposed to do, drive head on into them? Right of way can only be given, never taken.
That's something I notice about a lot of drivers in this country though. If there's a long street with parked cars on one side, and you meet a car coming towards you on your side of the road as it comes into view, you will wait as they have already begun their maneuver. However, if another car appears on the road and notices that you are stopped, they will rush up behind the other car or begin advancing towards you, when actually they're supposed to wait and give way to you.

Oncoming traffic in no way had to break hard. The silver golf seen me well in advance and slowed down to stop.
CiniO wrote: » Exactly. I see most drivers in Ireland seem to think, that if they have obstruction on their side of the road, then they are allowed to overtake forcing oncoming traffic to stop. Come on guys - if obstruction is on your side of the road, then you have to wait until oncoming traffic passes by - not the other way around. Vibe666 is perfect example of it.

Black_Knight wrote: » If we did that, we would of had single car after single car coming against us and no car would of been able to pass. It was the easier option rather than asking 20 cars to back up into Mulhuddart. Im not say any of it was right, but I think people should be able to look back retrospectively and say, yeah, that was probably the best way for everyone to resolve that situation.
