This is a call to all boards members with Tralee connections to get a bit of a community spirit going like the good people of Listowel and Ballybunion who both have fantastic threads going.
Lets get a Tralee one up and running!!!
I have noticed alot of people start threads looking for information on Tralee. Perhaps this thread can be a central forum to help assist them with their queries.
Im now based in Dublin but like to keep up to date with what is happening perhaps people based in Tralee can assist me and others based away through this thread.
Your support in getting this up and running would be greatly appreciated.

So folks... how is everyone like the revamped Tralee thread now? I think it's going well. Just want to say thanks to you all for going with the new scheme and sticking to it. It has improved things all around for everyone I think.

Festival time again! So this thread is going to be busier than normal, and likely to see a lot of new posters asking questions etc. Can we all keep our friendly, welcoming vibe going? Best foot forward and all that!

Its going to be a long week, I've recovered from Puck on Saturday night!

I'm definitely going out tomorrow night, walk around the town for a bit, watch the Ireland v Wales game at 8 and go somewhere else other than The Abbey. I presume most of the bars are open late tomorrow night.

Alot of the customer parking spaces are gone with the festival rides until the end of the month, it would have been pointless to open now. Not sure if this is the reason why but if it was me I'd wait. Also the bright lights will attract the all the usual "folks" down here that would cause you problems.

At least the parking inspectors are easing off with the reduction in spaces.....:pac:

Seen some work going on there today. Looks like an electrician working in there at least.

Really looking forward to returning to Tralee this weekend.

I understand there is a great buzz about the place, heard town is full of tourists.

It should be the best Festival ever. I always enjoy my stay in Kerry at this time of the year. Over the years I have attended The Rose Selections in The Dome, fantastic show and still one of RTE's most watched programmes.

Heard the Bypass/ Ring Road is opening on Friday. That should be fanatastic for the town ,not only during the Festival but throughout the year. It should certainly make the town centre more accessible and be a new lease of life for the business community.

All we need is some nice weather. Hoping to get some sailing or golf in during my break and get into town to see the bands ,displays and parades.

On another note did anybody else notice the lack of coverage about the Rose of Tralee in this week's Kerry's Eye?

I suppose it only started yesterday and Kerrys Eye went to press last night so there is nothing really to report yet? I'm sure next weeks edition will be jammed packed.

I'm sure you are right, but isn't it a pity that our own newspaper; that IS printed in Tralee, doesn't promote our town in the run up to the festival? There isn't much point in promoting it after the event . This week's Kerryman has a detailed and informative supplement.

I have been told there is a Rose of Tralee supplement in the Kerrys Eye . Did anybody else get the supplement in their paper? I bought the paper in Dunnes and checked a good few papers in Tesco later on and there were not any supplements in either of them .

Hi guys..thinking if heading to the dome tomorrow night.is it usually any craic? Are the coronas tickets separate to the 15 euro entry to the dome? Been a while since I've been out in tralee and would like to head to somewhere other than the abbey.

Was around town last night with a group of friends. Great buzz around the place! Crowds seemed small enough, but suppose it kicks off properly tonight!

Great Garda presence everywhere, streets were really clean and a decided lack of our Romanian brothers and sisters about the place. Stewards were friendly and helpful and food stalls were great quality!

Great to see The Rose getting back on track!

did anyone go to JLS last night or in town when they were on? I could barely hear them from my house, usually I can hear a concert pretty well.
I saw pics on FB which showed a pretty big crowd. I think there were people travelling from all over the country to see them. I wouldn't be a fan, but I did think it was a good name to get to bring a crowd in!
Can't wait to see The Stunning tomorrow night!!

The square was deserted for the end of Brendan Shine's set last night and with Denny street closed off, there isn't much else to do. At least they are going to have a stage in Castle street tonight

went to see the Stunning last night, it was brilliant, but there was a tiny crowd down for it!
I don't think charging €10 worked to be honest. They had a truck blocking the street from the park, so no one at other end of Denny St. could see anything, just hear it. The bar on the street was closed well before 11pm too!

I don't think they should be charging for the street entertainment, they get enough money off businesses in the town as it is! I emailed them numerous times for leaflets to be dropped into our business, seeing as we paid our cheque over and got no reply, nor did anyone drop us in anything! bad form!

exactly, not a hope they are getting it again!
They didn't even mention all the sponsors this year on their brochures, only their main big sponsors!! We are not important enough this year apparently!

There was Teddy bears picnic in the square today, not the greatest run event, but at the end it descended into a free for all where prizes little toys were handed out to kids who waved their teddies high in the air.....had to laugh when the guy who cycles a fully laden bicycle of shopping & bric a brac thru town every day crashed the stage waving a fckin nemo cuddly toy looking to win a prize.

Duno what happened the air show yesterday. Aside from the rain it was very thrown together. Huge delays between displays, we were there for about 2.5 hours and only saw 4 planes???. It didn't start until about 4.40 PM despite being advertised for4PM. Family orientated events need to start on time. If they don't kids get irratated parents get p***ed off and it turns people off for future years. This event had huge potential.

Unfortunately 100's of people left. I know the rain had a lot to do with this but if the show held there attention they would have certainly stayed.

The whole thing seemed to have went backwards as an event rather than improve !!

Other than that there seemed to be a good crowd about the square was jointed yesterday afternoon.

Hope the selection nights go well tonight and tomorrow!!!

I was just going to ask about the air display,there was few planes still going around later on in the evening around 8 o clock,apparently conditions weren't suitable earlier in the evening for the pilots to do some of the moves.The ones I saw were impressive,two of them flying in tandem with smoke trails.
