im pissed and ready for it, anyway they knocked on my door today and out of boredom and curiosity i invited them in, i told them i had no interest in their religion but i was open minded in what they had to say. jesus when i asked how many times they got invited inside for a cup of tea or in my case a can of "soda"
i was shocked to hear that one of the guys wasnt ONCE invited into an irish house in nearly 6 months,
give these poor lads a break. they have to go on some misssionary duties for 2 years of their lives to some weirdo country, the 2 guys i had were from utah and new zealand, they arent any harm to no one, they dont look for money, they are doing it because they want to do it
dont slam the door in their faces, treat them with respect and give them an irish welcome.

what do you do when you get the guys with the suits and the big badges selling the bible to you

I live in the country so it doesn't happen but while I understand how annoying they must be you have to respect the dedication it takes to do that for hours, I'm sure they get some abuse on a daily basis too.

I've much more respect for those folk then the folk that "believe" but go day-to-day in their lives as if they weren't privy to the single most important piece of information to ever grace humanity (regardless if it's bollox or not).

Why should someone invite them in??? I'm not rude but politely tell them I'm not interested and I don't make a habit of bringing strangers into my house so wouldn't even consider inviting them in.

but then they told me if u join u have to donate 10% of your earnings to their church. in fairness to the 2 lads, they were lovely, and i told them not to push their religion on me, i was interested in their lives and where they came from

I know a lot of Chilean Mormons,of varying degrees of faith,and never have I been preached to or proletyzed to.

Like the OP,I met other mormons before and explained to them that I would not be taking leaflets or such,and after that we chatted about sport for 20 minutes.

but the weird part is some guy translated their bible for them about 200 years ago, so theres differences to the catholic bible and the morman bible,
im not sure of those differnces yet though
