There's been a crazy number of threads recently looking for restaurant recommendations, so I'd like to start a specific thread for it. Please post below about your favourite restaurants - why you like them, what price range they are, what type of food they serve, if they have an early bird, opening hours if you know them, where they're located. If you could include a link to the website, that would be great. The more details, the better. This is not a thread to post negative reviews - there's a thread in the main Food & Drink forum for that if you like. Basically, I want this thread to be full of recommendations, not positive and negative reviews. That being said, you can disagree with a recommendation briefly if you really feel the need to, but you must have a really valid reason such as an awful experience, rather than "I don't really like the food" or "It's too expensive".

I ate in the liberty grill last week for the first time. The food was very nice and the staff were good. I had wings for starter and they were only ok, nothing special but the mains were 10/10. The key lime pie was also 10/10.
Ill be going back again.

Ate in La Lavanda a week or two ago. It wasn't great. Two of the three starters were tasteless. Two of the main courses looked fine but were overcooked on tasting. A side portion of sauté potatoes were greasy and limp. Desserts were good though. Another thing I noticed was that they were charging the exact same price for a bottle of non alcoholic beer as the beer containing alcohol(same size, same brand). Maybe this is common and I just hadn't noticed it.

I thought the staff were very nice though. One of my dining companions was surprised by the experience as she had eaten there prior to that and thought it was nice.

We ate in the East Village last week. It (and SoHo) are brutally overpriced, but they do have lovely food. They do my favourite chicken wings in Cork, and I especially like the choice of heat level. My OH had a really nice burger. I definitely recommend the food, but I think the prices and the general confusion of the venue let it down. We were there mid-week at about 7pm, and there were 7 TV screens in sight, all showing sport that no-one was watching. There were Cork flags all over the bar which felt like too much. It doesn't know if it's a sports bar, a fancy bar, an upmarket restaurant or a nightclub. We loved our food but didn't want to stay any longer than it took us to finish one course. I think the restaurant upstairs is a little more defined, so eating up there may have been a better option.

I found East Village complety mad when dining there. too busy and the waiters/tress aren't very good and they load the food with salt. Soho then is a different storey although they are owned by the same Id much prefer soho.. We went to Bullys the other night to use up a voucher and ick food, service everything has gone badly downhill will not be re-visiting.

If anyone is looking for the best Crab Claws ever and willing to travel, Caseys in Baltimore mmmm sweet have them cold and be prepared for some cracking

One of the best I've had was down in Killarney a few months ago, havent had a decent one in Cork in awhile although that could be down to restaurant choice more then anything else.

I've probably mentioned before I really like they fillet they do at the Liberty Grill. Cooked perfectly the way I requested and so tasty!

I went to Oysters for the first time last week and thought it was amazing! Had the tasting plate for starter and there was loads on it. Main course was john dory, which was delicious. Cooked quite simply but loads of flavour. It is reasonably expensive and fancy though so wouldn't be going back except for an occasion.

Soho I found the best for steak in town yummiee very nice. Or if your up for cooking it take a trip to Supervalue on Blackrock/mahon road mm it is tasty we had it last night the best steak

The Thady Inn is the best spot in the county for steak, it's sirloin there though, not fillet. I find fillet a bit tasteless myself, sirloin all the way.

The best steaks I've enjoyed in Cork have been at Jacques and the Cornstore. I tend to go for ribeye or a fattier steak, rather than fillet, so I can't say for certain if either offers fillet.

Went to Sakura on McCurtain street last night. Got sushi to start (6 pieces), a duck noodle dish and a Bento box.

The bento was 12.99 and it was awesome. Rice, sushi, sea-bass and mushrooms in breadcrumbs. Great value and very tasty.

The sushi on it's own and the noodles weren't amazing but were nice. All that with 2 drinks came to €40. I left happy.

Electric and The Silver Quay both do great fillet steaks....mmmm I'm salivating just thinking about them!

Went to The Club Brasserie last night - omg what a beautiful meal!! I had salmon and potato cake to start with spinach and a lemon butter sauce...mmmm...only thing was it was a bit pricier than what I thought so don't know would I have it again for that reason but it was so tasty.

Then...for the main course (listen up GavRedKing!) I had a fillet steak...oh my word it was melt in the mouth divine!!! There was chunky chips, salad, onion rings, saute onions and pepper sauce with it - absolutely stunning!

Then had a divine Eton mess for dessert

It came to 48e for me which was pricy enough I suppose but well worth it for a treat once in a while! - I should add I also had a glass of wine.

I would definitely recommend this place :-)

La Dolce Vita cooks the steak in a wood fired over and uses excellent meat. Great place to go for steak. I've gone there a few times and always found the steak excellent. Nice pizza too!

Went to McCarthy's Bar & Bistro on the Model Farm Road over the weekend. Lovely relaxing vibe, good food and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend.

We went to The Bosun in Monkstown yesterday. It was actually my first time ever going there! We were only looking for light bites, so we just got starters. My OH got seafood chowder, which was lovely, and I got garlic stuffed mussels, which were so nice that my OH couldn't help ordering another portion for himself

The place itself needs a bit of love though. It had a run-down feeling to it, and the menus were very old. The staff were all young men who would have benefitted from a touch more training. But, then again, they're summer staff working on a Sunday so what would you expect really.

It's fairly pricey, but if I had a bit more spare cash, I'd definitely go back there for a main course.

People's views on the food are mixed (personally I think it can be great, but can be a bit boring at other times) however the customer service in Electric really is second to none. Spectacularly lovely, thoughtful, on-the-ball staff.

Paradise Crepe Restaurant on Academy Street I'm in two minds on.

On one hand, the crepes are of good portion, décor nice and the service is fast.

On the other, last time I was there during lunch and a quarter of the way through the meal when was ask by staff to move so as they could combine tables for a party of 6. Agreed and took my shopping to a counter stool table. However no one later showed at the former table and when I asked at when paying the bill, the party had cancelled soon after. So a little miffed, but perhaps an over-reaction.

What were the prices like?

I've just seen a picture of the menu for that new Sugarcube place by Electric, and the prices seem much higher than what I'd pay. €3.50 for a teaspoon of sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice! But then again, I don't often buy crepes so maybe that's standard pricing? I've have expected it to be about €2.50 for lemon and sugar, tbh.

Offhand, the prices for the two savory crepes I'd ordered previously:
Tuna/Salad - 9:90e (this was a generous plate)
Ham/Cheese/Egg - 6:60e.
Never had a chance to try the sweet crepes but there definitely was a wide variety of choice on offer.

I really like paradise crepe... Sorry to hear about your being booted about in there. I usually bring kids there for a treat. Children love pancakes! (And me too!)

I was just in paradise crepe last Friday and thought it was yummy!! Myself and my friend both had the egg, cheese and bacon crepe and it was so big and filling.

The staff were really nice too I have to say, I would go again just to try something else off the menu cos there was so much choice! Really want to try a sweet crepe too!

I always think the price of a cappuccino tells a tale (€2.90 in Paradise Crepes, which is TOO MUCH)

I'm not a coffee drinker, so cappuchino's wouldn't be on my radar, but I thought the crepes were massive for the price. Folded over, they still fill a dinner plate. You wouldn't be leaving there hungry after a ham and cheese crepe anyway, and I think thta's either 5 or 6 quid. That's a cheap enough for a seated lunch in town.

Thumbs up for sakura on mccurtain street from me. Thanks for the recommendation! Went as a group. Sushi and sashimi were great, love the little wooden bridge thing it comes on. Came with wasabi and pickled ginger but nt a lot of it. beef teriyaki was very tasty. I Found the cha han a little bit salty, but I think it is supposed to be. Tempuras were really good, table had veg, squid and hake tempura.

Was in Cobh this weekend with the kids and went to the Titanic Bar for a bit of grub, the kids had 99's with them and we were refused entry even though we wanted to sit outside. The guy was quite smart about it. That alone would put me off going back.

It's not technically a restaurant, but we got gelato from Scúp on Oliver Plunkett Street over the weekend. It's amazing! Highly recommended.
