I can turn lucid on or off but not really adjust anything else.

Ive noticed like a kind of lag, the screen stutters for a second then sorts itself out and get what id call screen tear for a second. Its not constant its like frame dips causing it. I usually use fraps on any new game I get and adjust the settings till I consistenly get over 60fps then turn v-sync on and I get solid frames. I really like the idea of using a program to control v-sync because some games seem to implement it better than others.
For example Crysis 2 Ultimate Edition with v-sync on locks my framerate to 30fps. With it off im getting about 80-90 on average with a few adjusted settings. I play it through steam.

Ye like Nvidias adaptive v-sync i think but dont think AMD have an equivalent. My motherboard allows me to grab a copy of lucid virtu mvp but its the basic version and seems to make screen tear worse! Very few settings are adjustable in the basic version from what I can see.

So was just looking for a few alternatives to try out, seemingly some of them let you lock v-sync fps at whatever you want. I know I cant get more than 60fps with a 60Hz monitor but heard if you lock it to 90 fps it helps smooth everything out

Virtual v-sync? Isn't that just adaptive v-sync? If you have an NVIDIA card there's an option in the control panel for that. I think AMD cards have something similar, but I'm not sure.

Thought the first half of this interview was interesting, talks about Sony trying to make Planetside 2 a properly cpu multi threaded game, good sign for any one with 6 or 8 core AMD processors

I call BS; doesn't fit at all into AMD's roadmap. Thought they were pushing for HSA with their APUs? There's no way they'd drop everything they've done with bulldozer, piledriver and soon steamroller on their AM3+ socket and bring back Phenom? I mean, it'd be awesome for PC gamers due to the better IPC in Phenom compared to like piledriver, but it's not going to happen.

I have what I think is a really good idea at the moment. Well I have a few ideas but since this is our first project I'm trying to go with something that should be easier to develop. I'm not going to say what it is on a public forum yet but I've noticed a niche market for a modern take on an old school game that hasn't been done yet. I've looked hard to see if anyone else has done it and they haven't.

The plan is going for a pc release, try to get steam greenlighted and maybe some kickstarter funds to do console releases afterwards.

Deciding whether to use the Unity Engine or Unreal Engine at the moment. Will probably go with Unity.

The project is going to take at least a year anyway so I'll let you know once we have something to show.

Hm, looks pretty good actually. I'll be starting something similar in DIT come September. I don't know how much free time I'll have, but if I do have time (and can actually contribute in a helpful way) I'll lend a hand.

Software development degree in the AIT. It specialises in either web or game development from the second year onwards. Whatever you choose.

What game/course are you doing at the minute, Bloodbath?

One of the big problems is unscrupulous sellers advertising 'Gaming PC's that are either low end parts to begin with, or a mixture of semi-decent parts and absolute junk. It pains me to see these flimsy generic cases with 15 euro Dabs Value "700w" PSUs and an LED fan asking upwards of 500-600 euro - even Adverts is rife enough with them in recent times. It's hard to compete with them as people buying tend to know little about PC's and don't have a great concept of low quality vs high quality parts, and they tend to fixate on price more so than anything else. I've bought and sold a lot of PC's and although it's not hard to turn a technical profit, I found it wasn't really worth it unless I was willing to put more effort and money into it, which I can't really justify. It's worth keeping an eagle eye on the likes of Adverts, components websites that have b-grade sections and so on, to get a few deals that enable you to build a quality machine at a respectable price.

I'm pretty sure that building to sell is against adverts terms and conditions. I suppose it could be argued that you built it as a hobby and then you need to sell it on...
The main problem that you'd really face is that if you were stuck with a build for little while, it would devalue fast, especially if new technology was released.

They offer hundreds or even thousands of euro of pirate software.
People who know better will build their own and people who don't will go for the pirate software.

With out the software , windows, office ect you will have trouble selling the systems and playing for legal copies will price you out of the market.

We need someone to do monthly build's for Ireland on youtube, ive seen like builds for every country but no Ireland. Those videos tend to get a lot of views aswell. Slap the items in the basket and talk about them for 5 minutes.

No harm in it. Good luck if you do start doing it! I thought of doing it before, but it requires a sizeable investment. And the profit margin is small really (unless you have a reliable network of distribution, you'll have to be reasonable with pricing to keep things moving). And ofc it takes time to put a build together.

I was thinking about sticking up some flyers and business cards in college. Might get some business with the new year starting. I don't think I'd earn enough to worry about tax. More of a hobby than anything.

It's not even worth 750 IMO. Old CPU. Probably the worst 7950 going (worth 200 or less second hand).

Most likely pirated OS. Ultimate? No... And Photoshop for another 40 quid? Chancer.

I am about to build a similar system, just a weaker card. And plannin on selling it for 450. Lol.
