Avoid that e200. A family member had one, multiple expensive issues and in the end he just gave up. Sold it for peanuts and it was broken for parts not long afterwards. That was a low mileage 01 with a full MSL history from new.

I put diesel in my car today. And basically I've been doing all town driving all week in and out to work I have to drive through central Kilkenny to get to work. 250 km to 13.5 litres of diesel that 52.3 mpg and that was working it out properly. I was amazed Its some going for tipping around town 12km at a time trips.

That's exceptionally good. I thought I was doing well when I refilled today. First tank, good mix of driving and not mothering the car, stop start malarkey off and climate control on all the time and it did 46mpg which I thought was good for a tight new engine.

That does seem very good for the car considering its brand new. We found with my mothers octavia it was a bit harder on diesel for the first few 1000 km. I'm sure you should get over 50mpg once it clocks up abit which will be good going considering it has a nice bit of power too.

This week so far I have driven 850km. Over that run, well the first tank, I averaged 7.1l/100km, that's 40mpg! Pretty good for a car powered by the correct fuel:p

11.32l/100km , 24.96MPG - Some hard urban driving :pac: .

Mine was down to 32MPG it town driving but that's the worst I have got. I would love to drive the same route again slower to see what I can get the fuel consumption up to I was driving fairly quick all week.

What can the 2 get on a long run/average on a tank of long runs?

It is a very dull motoring forum when we talk about fuel consumption:pac::o

yeah I did a sleeper run to galway once, 100kph the whole way needle didn't even pass the quarter tank mark, so would have been around the high 30's early 40s.......most boring drive of my life ever...let it rip out of both tolls though, so that way has skewed the figures abit.

It'll be over the thousand by the end of Sunday.The car as you would probably expect was faultless over the entire time never missed a beat. Tomorrow I'm going to reward it with a good deep clean:)
Not having cruse control gives you an awful sore leg on long trips, wonder if it was an optional extra on the Levin???

Yeah I reckon so - the MR2 had it on one or two - impossible to find one , the factory one as its so rare..

Leaving tolls is one of the times that I check the rev limiter is working properly:pac:

I find motorway driving boring regardless of speed so there's little point in going faster.. I'm always terrified of the guards catching me on the motorways too so for both of those reasons I save the fast driving for the back roads:D

Just washed mine earlier, it's been neglected for the last 3-4 weeks. Have to say, Orchard autocare citrus pre clean is the bizness.

Mine hasn't been washed since a couple of days before the Midway meet and hasn't been waxed since the Glendalough meet:o I've just had no time to do it, but the whole day tomorrow is set aside for it so I'm looking forward to getting it done:cool:

Have you ever tried flixonase/pirinase spray? It's a steroid rather than antihistamine but it can work wonders and no drowsiness side effect.

Got my air con recharged in fast fit in Galway for €39. My car is like a fridge. No gas in it at all he said. No pressure drop after he recharged it. So no leak. He was saying it was strange to have no pressure with no leak.

Well that was a bit of a waste. Checked out the interior in traynors. Everything was still in the car, and the car was a swimming pool. All the seat sponges are soaked and the drivers electrics connection was under water. The whole thing was caked in dirt and dust too. They came down in price by 150 to 500, but with the water damage it might only be worth 300. Not worth the effort I think.

Already spent what I saved on some Teng tools while I was waiting for the car to be done. Tripart is very reasonable for teng tools.

Sooo, I was tinkering with the Astra today, and took off the sorry excuse that is the front bumper to see how I'd go fitting one properly, this greeted me

Now personally I don't know if this should look as battered as it does, but something tells me it should be flat, it looks like it's been crashed slightly

So should it look like that? And can it be taken off and replaced?

It looks like it has taken a few small knocks, I wouldn't be too worried about it, just the bumper doing it's job:pac:

It may mean that it's a bit trickier to re-mount the bumper as the mounting points might have moved slightly.

That's what I was thinking, it looks like it can be taken off but I'm not 100% on that
