With the 2012-2013 season over, I thought I'd create an offseason thread. We had one last year which worked well as we were able to put everything in the one place.

Nice work by Daryl Morey, got James Harden and Dwight Howard in the space of 12 months. I remember listening to him a year or two ago, on the BS Report I think, saying how they were trying to build a contender without tanking/sucking, and I didn't think he could, but looks like he's pulled it off.

To be fair, he's gotten a great deal of luck with both trades. If it wasn't for OKC's absolute stupidity and Howard absolutely sucking for the Lakers, they're the Mavs right now (minus the recent ring).

That said, he stuck to his guns and took opportunity when it knocked, so he deserves credit for that.

I know, it's shocking form. I really liked watching that Mavs setup too. Both tough to beat yet exciting when they were rolling. Still can't master the Dirk fadeaway shot when I'm practising after all this time.

On a similar note, if Bogut and Thompson do go to the Lakers, I'll feel a little sad as it had just become really fun watching that whole Curry-Bogut dynamic click. Of course it'll be an infinitely better move for the franchise giving them Championship credentials, but still...

Yeah I know that man. Just a bit surreal looking back to a little over two years ago to this point even if it was on the cards Dwight wasn't interested.

I am pretty excited about this, they really didn't have to give much up for Iggy and they have made the team better in one swoop. They obviously won't be able to resign jack and Landry but I think this is a major step forward. I think there could be some trouble in signing there no 1 pick this year also unless he stays in Europe for a year but that isn't a major concern now.

Could there be one more twist in the tale, sign and trade with Lakers, maybe Bogut and Thompson going the other way.
Exciting times.

I still have no idea where he is going??

GSW have too many bad contracts to move and cannot sign him outright- would most likely have to give up some of there young assets.

Atlanta seems an unrealistic option and they have moved on with other signings.

Dallas- I don't see how this makes sense? Play with an ageing Dirk until next yr when Dirk re-signs at a discount and try to attract another Player.

LAL offers most cash etc. but that team is Old -Yes Pau & Nash could be healthier next year but even at full health it is a poor defensive team.

Hou prob offers most flexibility going forward- harden & shooters- maybe space for Smith (a long shot) but Hou has not really been relevant for yrs (though I enjoyed watching them last yr.

Been doing a little reading on him, admittedly on Celtic blogs, and I'm actually super excited about him as a coach. From what I've read he reminds me of a bit Bill Belichick. He has reputation as a super smart coach, believes in process, "The Butler Way", and he's a big believer in analytics (hoping Drew Cannon joins the Celtics).

I'm also really happy to be a fan at the beginning of the next team. Was a latecomer to the Big Three and as much as I liked and admired those guys, I never really had a proper emotional investment in the team.
