no if i was claiming on insurance i would wait til i paid premium for it, dunno if this would wait, my da going to deliver some angus cattle during the week over the country and am afraid of it getting worse

I saw a lad got his windscreen replaced during the week there and the fitter gave him a bandage afterwards that he was to put on a crack if it happened again . He said it would hold it together and stop it getting any worse for awhile .
Would one of those do the trick for you till october I wonder ?

years ago we had a lad drawing in with 390 t, rule of thumb was to keep back window closed, anyways he didnt and broke the windoe, my da who was picking up went over to lad , and he started crying , my da said he didnt know what to do:rolleyes:

Just sitting in a lounge in Abu Dhabi airport enjoying the complimentary food and beer, head for a shower soon then the last flight to Dublin. Was talking to the auld lad yesterday and he was saying the silage was near in, was delighted I wouldn't have to cover the pit but a bit gutted i wouldn't be around for the Craic. Keep some of that good weather for me!

Worst thing about having the track machine in is the subsequent workload - plumbing and fencing. Had the week off so got a s**t load done. Had a lad with me today and made the fencing three or four times quicker than if I was at it myself. So to summarise; roadway done, land drains done, reorganise some paddocks, silage done, fert out for second cut. 1 bag SulphaCAN and gran lime out on grazing ground. Digger pushed in ~120 stakes. Still some fencing and plumbing to do. Paddock system adds to those two jobs but worth it on the long run. Because of the weather been waiting two years to do alot of this work. Great satisfaction tonight seeing the whole thing coming together.

I'll be at the same next week, noticed a good bit of stemmy grass in a field i'm trying to get grazed off.

Plumbing finished this morning. One of the big costs with a paddock system is water. Anyone any tricks for keeping JFC 30g tanks from overflowing on boggy ground?

Family weekend so that draws an end to my time for farming. It made such a difference being at it full time for a full week. Really got stuck in. Up until this it has been a few hours in the morning and evening, an odd half day or full day here and there. A bit of fencing left to do but I can do that ahead of the cows. Once that's done can really get stuck into grassland management;)

make sure you have the drinkers anchored properly, we put posts on each side, the cows are feckers for throwing them around when empty, nothing worse:cool:

we also dig out a bit of a base to sit them in to keep them level, gone back to concrete drinkers around here tbh

Just do it. If you could get old slats they are good in a bog under drinkers. What I done for bog paddocks here was put a couple of big drinkers on the lane in a few places and leave it that the cows can walk to them. Never very far. Probably not practical for cows with calves.
