To answer your OP, in short, yes, I pre-judge posts before I even read them based on who posted them. If I know the poster has a history of stupid responses or having a very biased view, then I'm likely to only skim their post to check if it contains anything read-worthy. That is, I assume the post is drivel before I even read it. If the poster has a history of very sensible or well-considered posts, regardless of their viewpoint, then I'm more likely to read the whole thing. Post counts rarely have anything to do with it. There are posters with thousands of posts who continue to post nothing but drivel.

But i also imagine a lot of what goes on here and other sites is cause you like or dislike a poster based on what you know of them.

That's not to say that they don't still have something of worth to add I just feel that sometimes the substance doesn't merit the applause but that the posters name is synonymous with a particular pov and to me suggests a level of institutionalization, which is what I'd like to try and avoid.

Look at the soccer forum for example its nearly always the same people posting in there all time but this tends not to bother me because i find mostly they dont try and ram opinions down your neck. Ill be honest i have a pain in my arse with the kind of people on this site who feel like they are the voice for certain subjects and you just know when there chosen subject comes up there gonna make sure everyone knows there ever going point of view.
