Unnerving Experience

Bit of a weird one AH. Just want to share more than anything else. So here goes:

Myself and the brother having a few drinks this evening, nothing mad, just taking it easy. Out on to the balcony once an hour or so for a smoke (tobacco only), that kind of thing.

Just back in the door now after a bewildering experience, perhaps a few tins too many?

I was standing on the left and noticed something striking in the corner of my eye speeding across the sky. I'm generally looking skyward so my first thought on seeing this was 'shooting star'.

I nudged my brother shouting "LOOK AT THIS". We both looked up and saw a bird gliding and glowing white. We both stared on. The "bird" did about two circles high high above us at high speed before shooting off high into the clouds.

Truly bewildering experience. The bird dissapeard as quickly as he appeared, very high beyond the horizon at incredible speed. Never saw anything like it.

Anyway, if this was a "bird" any idea what it could have been? So far we have ruled out:

Swan, Crow, Magpie, Wren, Robin, Duck and Fly

It's light shining on the underside of the bird, most likely a seagull. Have seen it before.

Does look pretty cool though.

Thats weird op. I was driving home one evening at night about 2 years ago, when I saw a "something", fly like a bird, same motions, speed, across the road in the pitch black about 10-15ft in the air. It looked like it was on fire for all the world, except without the smoke and massive flames.

I couldn't make out what it was...it was just a bright orange ball....it was not a chinese lantern, it was not a meteor, it was not anything I have ever seen before.

Ok, but the rest of the sky was orange. And he was brilliant white.

He was flying at a very high altitude (in and out of the clouds) and at an incredible speed....

In seriousness, I've seen something similar. Was this in the summer? The best explanation I could get was that it was some sort of large moth reflecting light from streetlights or similar. TBH it was the closest to the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

No it was around January, and it was pitch black about 7pm

El Spearo! Winds were calm this evening. Certainly no "go arounds" or the like. We can only hope for another night of wind fed chaos at the airport but sadly this wasn't it!

The more I think about it, the less I'm able to describe what it is I saw. I'm not one for making stuff, but having said that, the pokemon explanations seem like the best so far.

I saw something identical to what you described . I was the beach one night and it was just getting dark and these 3 bright orange glowing balls of light appeared . They did a few zig zags and circle shapes and only about 50 yards in front of us and then just flew off into the sky really really fast . There was someone with and saw them too exactly as i described . No idea what they were but they weren't birds .
