I shot a few people at Stary today!

A couple guys were even that far north with axes for some reason & one of them scared the absolute **** out of me haha

I've ventured that far north with only an axe on occasion. Usually hit Berezino before Stary though to try and get somewhat geared up.Madness heading to Stary without some sort of a gun.

Why? In my experience you're less likely to get shot if you don't have a gun. I would never shoot somebody who only has an axe and hasn't seen me, especially if the poor bastard has just run all the way to stary. If the guy tried to axe me or follow me then id kill him, but I wouldn't give away my position by killing a guy for no reason.

I wouldn't have a problem venturing north with no gear, that way you have nothing to lose. That said I don't see how you would get all the way there without stumbling upon a weapon of some kind.

The way I look at it is, your up the north you know what happens up there. You can have no complaints being killed

Most people up north with no gear are people who were recently murdered and are trying to get back to their dead body which has all their gear. Next time I see someone running north with an axe I'm going to follow them!

Finding weapons on Epoch is especially hard. The two times I've given Epoch a proper play I haven't found a weapon in either Cherno or Elektro, but I have found enough parts to repair two vehicles.
Its much easier to get a vehicle on epoch than it is a weapon so people can easily get up north on the map without a weapon.

The "game" is currently a mod, but a standalone game is being developed and will be released in a few months, June is the suspected date.

The mod is a mod of Arma 2, which costs 25euro on Steam for the combined operation pack (which you need) or you can wait, there is deals all the time for Arma 2, I've seen it go for a tenner on Amazon for the two games.
Once you get Arma 2 Combined Ops, install it, and install DayZ commander and its common sense from there.

Also, this is our second thread, we hit 10k on the old one

@ FlyingIrish: Yeah I know what you mean, so many wheels and parts lying about the place. I was luckly to get an AKM and an AK before that. I did find other weapons but no ammo around.

Yesterday I swam all the way out to a Dinghy and it had no fuel

Awesome hopefully gonna get on here tonight, quick question would it not be better to put the trader area somewhere other than the stary tents? as thats already a pretty visited place for loot anyway

afraid not. its was done by the mod developers. best i like about this mod is the fact they removed most of the roadblocks and made them completely random and they sometimes spawn with loot

Ahh right, thought it was a choice made by the server admin which would be alot more interesting as it could move around and make interesting changes to the map, but now i think about it that would be obviously a bit more complicated to get working. Couldnt find too much info on how the mod works, the wiki isnt exactly informative yet

Was it off the coast to the East of Cherno? If so I swam out to the exact same one yesterday!

was on trying out epoch last night certainly makes thing a bit more interesting with the vehicle spawns, although havent managed to get one running yet, thats my aim for later

Bah damn you, i did find a working tractor but had mistakenly already gotten rid of my fuel by filling up a heli to see if syphoning worked but for some bizarre reason if you fill up a vehicle with 1 can theres not enough fuel to syphon it back out again

I'm afraid I can't take credit for that one!

I have a tractor, two pick-ups, a UAZ and a fuel tanker truck. Although the truck wasn't especially well hidden and I haven't checked on it in a while so it could be gone.

Have a little black limo hidden in a few trees, its terribly slow off road so havent brought it out in ages :P Must really get back playing this, play on my own so gets boring really quick

Have an ak and stuff like that. A good way to get currency lads is sell car parts, theres an abundance of them around so fill your car up with them and head to the traders :P
