Just saw a few Garda bikes escort a bus down the Quays of Dublin then into Christchurch. Why an escort this late at night? Who would be on the bus? Who decides who is entitled to an escort?

I've seen football and rugby team buses get escorted to and from stadiums at many levels. Bogball teams usually just drive to the pub in their tractors after matches.

Would they pay for it? I have seen them getting driven out of the environment of the stadium and away from fans flanked by Gardai but didn't think they would spin them the whole way to the hotel. The soccer guys stay at the airport while the rugby boys are in Carton House I think. Quiet a spin.
