Did you ever faint?

I nearly fainted when an anaesthetist stuck a need into my lower back and got it wrong the first time and had to do it again. Very close to tipping over on the surgical table (you sit up for the injection), the surgery nurses propped me up as I began to topple.

I was 12, fell off my bike and cut my head, made it to the doctor, he stitched me up without anaesthetic, which i made it through no problem strangely enough, went out to the reception desk, next thing i know i'm looking up at my mam, the doc and the receptionist!

Hyperventilating and then inducing fainting by popping your ears.

Dumb idiots we were. Twas weird 'waking up' with a load of people laughing at you.

Myself and my friends used to do 'The American Dream' on each other when we were young and dumb(er). I've never fainted naturally though.

When I was about 15 I was in hospital for a few weeks and confined to bed. When I was finally allowed out of bed I was so excited to go to the bathroom and brush my teeth at the sink. Next thing I knew I was back in bed, covered in blood, with a huge gash on my forehead.

Apparently the bang when I hit my head on the sink was so loud the nurse heard it down the corridor and came running.

I don't remember ever actually fainting but I did have a strange experience once where reckon I came pretty close.

It happens occasionally when I stand up too quickly that I get lightheaded and things start to go black. I think this is fairly common and it clears after a few seconds.

Well once this happened when I was in the middle of a busy shopping centre, otherwise feeling ok. I began to 'black out' - blackness at the edges of my vision that began to close in.

But it didn't clear and the blackness continued to close in until I couldn't see anything! My eyes were open, I could literally see nothing, just darkness, but I didn't faint or even feel close to it.

I felt very vulnerable in this busy place, unable to see. I'd stopped walking and luckily my mum who'd been walking ahead noticed something was wrong and came back for me.

"I'm blind!", I told her, and she helped me into the toilets, me clinging to her in the darkness. I sat down, put my head between my knees and slowly the blackness cleared and my vision went back to normal.

So I blacked out for a few minutes but the fainting part didn't happen. It was the strangest thing. Nothing like that has ever happened me since, I'm pleased to say.

A few times, I mustve something really wrong with me.

A few I remember I was sitting down on an office chair (at home), when suddenly I was on the floor, dazed out of my mind. No alcohol consumed, just a random faint...

Second time was a bit more embarrasing. In secondary school, we were messing around before the teacher came, and a guy threw a set square at my face. I was bleeding a bit so I asked the teacher if I could go to the bathroom to wash up. She thought it was just me trying to fob off, so she said no and I sat down. Again, next thing I knew I was on the floor in a heap. I went absolutely pale and weak for the next hour or so.

My dad nearly did during my confirmation when he was my sponsor. We saw him returning from communion looking very green; he walked straight past his seat and out of the church.

He returned a while later and didn't cause me any embarrassment - my main concern at that age.

I fainted a couple of times when I was pregnant, a combination of blood sugars and blood pressure dropping kicked my ass.

I got knocked out at witness, now oxegen, when someone that was crowd surfing booted me in the back of the head.

I was in cafe when I was 8 months pregnant, sat down because I wasn't feeling great. A member of staff came over and said I had to buy something or leave, I told them I would, but just needed to sit for a minute. SHe said buy something now, or leave.
So I stood up.
Everything went black and I felt my way over to the till, asked for tea and as soon as she turned around I knew I was gone.
She called an ambulance and I woke up with a paramedic asking what happened. I said that bitch made me get up and I hit the deck

I think I almost fainted once. I'm not even sure why. I felt unwell so made my way to the bathroom, on the way back out (hadn't been sick or anything) I had this mad buzzing/ringing in my ears, my vision had gone funny and it felt like the room was tilting to the side. Managed to make it into the living room and onto the sofa and lay there for a good 15 minutes. It was horrible!

Feinted a few times.

Recently lying on the couch re-watching the X Files, the one where Scully is abducted, I leapt up to go to the toilet and while finishing up I started to feel very sick. Came to on a cold hard floor in the dark (I'd fallen against the door closing it blocking out the hall light) staring up at a dim glow(only light was from a nearby house through the frosted glass in a tiny window above the toilet). For the ~10 seconds it took to remember who and where I was it was very very surreal.

Happened to me in school when I was 18. Was one of the last classes of the day, it was a roasting hot September afternoon, I'd had nothing to eat or drink all day. Basically, I remember looking over at my friend's textbook that was on the desk next to mine, and the words on the front of the book started swimming up towards my face. My last thought was, "Well, that's funny!"

However long later, I'm sitting completely disorientated and my principal and the teacher and some students are all standing around looking at me, "Daz, are you there/awake/ok?".

Next thing, two paramedics arrive in, put me in a wheelchair thing and I'm whisked off to hospital. CAT-scans, chest x-rays and endless other tests done. This was around the time a lot of young guys were dropping dead on sports fields and stuff, so they were very cautious about this.

More tests, and I'm found to be dehydrated, my sodium, potassium and loads of other levels are really low. I'm given a lecture about being sure to eat and drink during the day. One of my doctors said, "It's either nothing or it's a mini-stroke." Well, that cheered me right up. Fúcking bedside manner??? Can imagine him talking to female patients: "Sorry, love, it's cancer. Your tit'll have to come off." Fúck sake.

Had to go for MRI's and EEG-scans (horrible yokes they are) over the next weeks... only to find nothing. So it was all good, but a bit freaky all the same. Was put off the road for a year thanks to it too. Shíte that was.

Yep, could feel myself falling forward towards a wall, so I out my arm out to protect my face and head and it resulted a dislocated shoulder and broken arm...ouch!

I fainted when I had a cast taken off my arm years ago. I think that's the only time.

My brother faints quite a lot. Apparently he has low blood pressure because he's fit but yeah, faints a few times a year!

I was strangled into unconsciousness by a vengeful classmate when I was a kid, more or less the same as fainting. Well, a bit more bruising round the neck, but that's neither here nor there. It remains one of the weirdest experiences of my life.
