I saw my fair share of these before I deactivated my account.

One of the worst came from an american 'friend'(?) of mine.

She said and I quote:
"Ughhh so stupid...I have to get a visa to go to south america! I mean seriously isn't this the UNITED sates! Ahhhhh....Worst state ever!"

She was promptly removed from my friends list.

Sweet jesus, what goes through peoples minds putting stuff like that on facebook? you wouldnt do that with an adult, take a pic of them in a coffin and stick it up, although you'd never know, someone would probably tag the dead person in the pic as well.

I don't understand the problem here, if the mother of the twin babies wants to put up a picture of them and she thinks it's appropriate why should she care what other people think. What difference does it make to anyone else? It's not something I'd do in a million years but different people have different ways of expressing grief.

As "fair enough" as it sounds to you I personally don't think Fb is the place to be posting your dead babies photo's, its just wrong, a bit of respect for the dead....

My granny died there about 2 months ago, I wasn't posting pictures of her dead in a nursing home, nor would I think it is appropriate for any of my friends to do similar...

If the girl feels that's how to express grief through Fb, I couldn't really argue... (If it was a good friend I would have to either hide their post or delete them I suppose)

Surely Facebook should have a has a policy against posting pics of this nature. If the parent feels that a picture of her babies is helping to ease her grief, then she should put one on the mantelPiece there she can see it in private. And her real friends, not Facebook hangers-on.

Why? Because it makes you feel uncomfortable? I'm only guessing at her motives but maybe she wanted to show her friends the twins she lost as they were never going to get to meet them. And why does she have to be private about her grief?

I think its an incredible intrusion on the 2 babies...to acquire what? Sympathy? 10000 Likes and 'Awwww hugs'?

Ah here. That's a bit much. Do you expect people to look at a picture of a mother's dead twins and just think "well it's her way of grieving, so it's ok" ?

It's the last thing I'd expect off someone, and I'd say everyone who saw it would have been shocked at first. That would be the last thing I would want to see on my news feed.

Personally, I think it's too far and she really shouldn't have done it. Then again, losing 2 children is something I hope I never have to go through so I don't know what her frame of mind is, and god knows I wouldn't want to experience something as devastating as that any time soon.

Posting pictures of dead people no matter what age they are is just morally off. Death does not have the same level of taboo now that it had for the generations before but this is no excuse for what I would deem as disrespect towards the dead (the posting as well as liking of the photo). News reports don't attach a picture or video of the person in question when they're dead so why would you do that on facebook? This has to contravene the terms.

Naturally, these people had a wide variety of pictures to choose from to post on their wall. Did I find any of their posts inappropriate? No, I didn't. Again, not something I'd do myself but that's not really relevant.

Now this part is speculation but I'm guessing that if this mother had twins that had died in Ireland, they were still born or had a genetic abnormality that made meant they were not alive for a long time. If this is the case, I'd imagine that these might be the only pictures she has of her babies. Is it still inappropriate for her to post these pictures if they are the only ones she has? I don't think so.

There's a big difference between posting a pic of dead relative who lived a life, and is shown in a pic smiling or whatever, and posting two newly dead babies (if thats what they were). look at newspaper memoriam notices, you put a picture of the person as they were alive, not a pic of them lying in their coffin. same thing.

Posting a picture of someone alive and posting a picture of someone dead are 2 completely different things. The fact you even compared the two is ridiculous.

You didn't find them inappropriate because there's nothing wrong with someone posting a picture of themselves being happy with someone close to them who passed away.

I know a guy who changes his profile or cover photo to him and his dad (who died a few years ago), and it's a nice way to remember him.

I personally think it's inappropriate due to the sensitive nature of the pictures and the fact this entire thread proves Facebook is not a platform for anything serious.

However it's probably also inappropriate to start a subjective discussion that's already progressed further than necessary. Can't we just get back to the more usual Facebook muck that gets posted.

I'm not the one being on a high horse, you're the one that was rubbishing it by trying to say the woman was looking for a 1,000 likes. I wouldn't do it myself because I normally wouldn't share anything private on facebook, other people don't have a problem with that and I don't have a problem with them doing that. What they want to share on facebook is their prerogative. Like I already said, if a grieving mother wants to put a picture of her babies on facebook I'm not going to complain about its inappropriateness.

A girl I know gave birth to a still born baby girl maybe two years ago and posted an entire album of the dead child up dressed up in different outfits, being washed, ect. No doubt very distressing for anyone who looked at the photos the child was quite obviously very dead, not looking like it was asleep.

I understand they would take photos because that's all they have of the child she carried for 9 months but don't understand why feel the need to share such sad and very personal photos.

Because they were looking forward to introducing their new baby to the world and this was the only way they felt they could do it under the circumstances perhaps.

It wouldn't be me, I really don't post very much personal stuff on Facebook or even on Boards but from reading this whole thread, some people like to share a lot more than others.
