Right lads one more question

The card says it needs a 500W power supply, but people have reccomended the 450W, would I be better off going for the 550 version yeah? Sapphire Radeon HD 7850, 2GB GDDR5, lite retail|

450 is fine if it's of good quality .
Cheap, bad quality PSUs are rated higher than they really are so the GPU manufactures err on the side of caution.

The amazon 450 is perfect for that card if that what you were looking at.

I would say it's down to the fact Amd will probably put up pre configed gaming pc's with compatible components and show how they perform on their website .

No its not a problem anymore but if they where able showcase a whole pc and say its able to perform like this in games it could boost sales . Especially when you look at some places who sell " gaming pc's " . I do realize said places have to make money but the mark up is ridicoulous at times .

Just got my Asus 7950 DirectCUII there today. Installed it and just to for fun I turned the fans up to 40%. The thing sounds like it's going to take off. Was worried until I started playing some games and running benchmarks. The thing never goes over about 15% of the total fan speed. It stays so cool.

Had the same reaction with my card when I got it. The DirectCU/TwinFrozr/Windforce coolers that Asus/MSi/Gigabyte use are awesome, dont think I'd ever go back to the reference style cooler ! (unless it was in a low airflow build or something)

Just a quick question. I'm used to reference coolers. In that they pull cool air in and exhaust out of the case. The Asus DicectCU blows hot air into my case. Should I change my side intake mto an exhaust to try and get rid of some of the hot air? I've 2 120mm in take at the front, one 120mm in take at the side, 1 200mm exhaust on top.

Note for the future:Pay attention to what port your plugging cables into on a modular power supply,plugging a six pin sata power cable into an eight pin pci-e port equals a dead SSD and a dead HDD.:(

Stupid mistake really,should have been paying more attention.On the upside amazon are replacing the ssd and I had most of the stuff on my hdd backed up any way so its no too bad.Whole system died when I did it,was fully sure I'd screwed the mobo as there was a nice smell if burning when I hit the power button.If I can get the pcb off the hdd I think I might be able to get it running again but I've managed to strip the head on the final screw so I'll need to go in search of a drill tomorrow.

Anyone have any recommendations for a decent wireless router? Something solid that wont crap out all the time, like the ****ty dlink we currently have. we wont be doing anything like sticking tomato or dd-wrt on it.

If its directly over the GPU then do ! Should see a drop in temps on the GPU !

It's a HAF 912.

I'd keep it as an intake then. It supplies fresh air directly to the card. The 2 top exhausts will do the rest.

yes but they dont install 3rd party cpu coolers because they might break during transit

Trying to play Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and the damn thing just won't work properly on my computer. I can't seem to break 30fps regardless of where I use 'very high' or 'low' settings, which seems bizarre, but when I drop the resolution down from 1920x1080 to 1280x800, the framerate goes up to 150! I have a 3570k and 7770 crossfire, and other games are fine.....

Have a look in Afterburner, see how much memory is in use at 19x10. I didn't think something like that would use that much memory, but that's the only thing I can think off if you're getting that big of a drop from a resolution change.

Here's the weird part, at 1680, it's the exact same, it only creeps back up to 50-60fps once I go down to 1440x900.....anything above that, and regardless of whether settings are low or very high, it just won't go above 25-35. Really irritating. Afterbuner's reporting 1.1gb memory used at 1680, still hovering around the 800-900mb mark running 1440?!

Try running 14x9 with 4/8xAA.

It just seems crazy that the game would be so memory hungry....I know its Cry Engine 3 but Crysis 3 itself runs fine.
