A 17 Year old Head Boy and England under 19 Lacrosse international who was summoned to court for 50p worth of cannabis – has committed suicide after fearing that it would block his chances of working in America. Edward Thornber, 17 was on holiday with his friends in Newquay in 2011 when he was stopped by police and found to be in possession of 50p worth of cannabis. For those unaware of just how little this is look at your little finger nail and then think smaller. It was the second time he had been stopped under the same circumstances.

Uruguay introduced a bill last November to regulate production and sale of cannabis. Under the proposed legislation, Uruguayans over 18 will be able to purchase pot in state-approved distribution centers.
Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus signed legislation into law last week legalizing the use of cannabis for therapeutic purposes. Under the new law, patients with a physician's authorization will be able to access cannabis from pharmacies. Initially, cannabis will be imported into the country. However, the law also allows for the eventual domestic production of cannabis for medical purposes by state-licensed producers. Individual patients will not be allowed to cultivate their own cannabis under the law.Canada, Israel, and The Netherlands also allow for the state-licensed production of medical marijuana for qualified patients.
Half Of Britons Support Softer Cannabis Laws 19th February 2013. The majority of Britons would support a softer stance on cannabis laws, an independent think-tank has said.More than half the public support legalising the production and supply of cannabis or decriminalising its possession, according to a survey ordered by the Transform Drug Policy Foundation. Only one in seven Britons support heavier penalties and more money being spent on enforcement for cannabis offences, the campaign group found. Some 67% of people support an in-depth review of policy options for controlling all drugs.
