Just had my first Parcel Motel oversized delivery experience. I bought a roll of stuff to tint an arcade bezel but completely forgot that it would exceed the Parcel Motel length measurements.

Can't get out to Finglas so have to have them deliver. €10 euro. There goes all postage savings on that one

So the Oculus Rifts seem to be getting into hands of devs and they're starting to do the kinds of things I'd hope they would - modding games for VR.

Check this out HL2 with a motion tracked gun mod too.

I can't flippin wait to go through the intro of Half Life with VR. I'll probably cry with joy.

Any of you lads PC tech savvy?

I keep looking at these Oculus Rift dev kits and wanting one. They come to about €250 posted which I think is crazy cheap for what it does.

What's holding me back are minimum pc specs - there aren't any online anywhere. Just assumptions based on the requirements for the tech.

You need a good 60fps in both eyes to have it run smoothly. What I'm trying to figure out is if my computer is up to the task.

I'm using a Samsung RF511 with an i5, 6GB of RAM and a nVIDIA GT450m 1gb graphics card. Seems to put out 120fps in Half Life 2 maxed out. Can run Crysis 2 and games like that at a good sold 30fps from what I remember.

It's not going to produce a nice experience in Crysis, but I'm thinking that if it gives me 120fps in HL2 then it should be serviceable for Doom 3 BFG Rift edition. To be honest I'm even willing to drop the entry price just to walk around the test environments!

You can order the dev model now for May delivery

$300. Comes with an Oculus ready version of Doom 3 BFG (and Id imagine the tech demos too). Id say we'll see loads of homebrew proects popping up quickly.

consumer version looks to be a long way off. Dont think I can wait. Plus Id say once some good usable projects emerge online, the dev kit demand will go through the roof as people will want to give it a go.

If you do get your hands on one then I'm guessing the next beers at your place will be extra packed. :cool:

Probably a good thing the consumer version is a while away, reckon I would have to upgrade the PC to make it worthwhile.

dunno much about Kirby games tbh, Kirby's Dream Land I've played the most, someone else would be a million times more help.

GameGrumps played Return to Dream Land, might give you an idea of what it's like.

Hard to recommend what kirby game to start with because although there's a few games that stick to the original kirby template there's even more that are highly experimental and there's nothing else like them out there. Kirby is the character nintendo puts on the cover of their experimental game ideas to give them more retail pulling power. I actually prefer the experimental games. Canvas Course, Epic Yarn, Tilt n'Tumble and Kirby's Dream Course are absolutely superb. If you want the more normal Kirby games then Dreamland and Adventure are pretty good.

Give them a ring or a message on Facebook and they'd let you know. I'd guess around €60-80 for the console on its own. You'd probably get one cheaper on eBay or something.

So when did Dead Space become so good that it got itself an article as a 'future classic' in Retrogamer? I played it and enjoyed it but future classic, I don't think so. It's a big rip off of Resident Evil 4 and System Shock 2 (it started out as a system shock game as well) and other than the anti gravity sections it was very derivative. Blasting limbs off enemies isn't that big of a change to going for head shots. It got pretty boring towards the end after a solid opening and had that awful asteroids section. It got 7's and 8's on release and I think they were spot on. It was a fun game that managed to capitalise when Resident Evil dropped the ball.

So when setting up a PSN account, is it advantageous to set up a UK region one or is that even possible?

Possible but not really beneficial. Basically the same as the Irish one, prices aren't really that different either. Will be a bit more awkward to get credit for purchases. If you have a thirty day pass then free games for thirty days I guess. It's only a tenner for three months at the moment though so it is worth around three euro :pac:

US, Hong Kong and Japanese accounts are a must have though.

Cheers JU. If setting up an alt region account, how does one pay for content? I've never used PSN/SEN before...is it like the Wii U system where you just put credit/debit card details in & pay?

Some credit cards have been known to work on alternate region accounts if you trick the system to believe you have an address at Beverly Hills 90210

But by and large you'll need to get prepaid cards online (usually with a bit of a service charge, alas). I know my CC doesn't work with Japanese or US accounts.

I think I read on the PS or games forum that there's a new Paypal option on the US store anyway, and some poster was waiting for a response from Paypal to see if Sony would be forced to honour international accounts.
