Seriously how many muppets randomly waltz onto this taxpayer funded construct without paying the fare? I'd imagine it loses a hell of a lot of money given the amount of people that don't even pay to use it. Haven't the geniuses at Dublin Corporation not considered erecting barriers with ticket gates to ensure that it is no longer a hope on, hope off freeby service so many seem to take it for?

I was on the green luas line a few years ago heading towards town. It was a saturday night so there was a few people on it. When it got to the milltown stop there was 10+ Luas Staff in High-Vis covering all doors ready to get on and check tickets. Cue about a dozen people get off real quick brushing past them :pac:

Always remember one bloke shrugging past them as they asked for his ticket Like in a total "GET THE BLOODY HELL AWAY FROM ME!" way with arms flopping :pac:

You referenced people who you don't see go near ticket machines, so in a way you did attack those who DO pay cause I often have a one week student ticket so I usually just make sure I have it on me with my Student card and get on. You've now made me aware of the fact that if I ever get on the luas you will be there thinking ill of me and my student ticket just cause I don't walk around with it stapled to my head.

i think it's clear he is speaking about the great unwashed masses who plague this city, each generation more parasitic than the last, who think the world owes them a living and have never contributed a day in their lives, least of all actually pay a luas fare. Not people with genuine travel passes.

I never mentioned OAPs.

Free Travel passes are given out to people of all ages (young people too),with either physical and or mental disabilities too after they have been through a full medical examination and their medical evidence is taken into account.

A person with a false/prostetic arm or a leg could look normal and walk normal and can have a free travel pass.
But hey...they must be a scumbag..because they dont pay a fare on the Luas.

So a person who may look drunk or look like they on drugs may be in fact a sober and drug free person with a physical or mental illness/condition and have a free travel pass.
So again this person doesnt pay a fare,and he or she is labled as a scumbag

I find it amazing that in this day and age people presume and prejudge people in our society when they dont even know that particular person and their personal situation.

Oh and any person who is medicaly examined and certified as having any sort of disability based/classed as a 20% disability/loss of faculty (be it mental or physical disability) is entitled to a free travel pass.

So you might want to take that onboard before labeling everyone who doesnt pay a fare as scumbags.You dont know their personal circumstances

They are all entitled to a free travel pass and therefor would not pay a fare on the Luas

You will get a Free Travel Pass automatically at age 66 if you are getting a pension from this Department and permanently live in the State.

If you are under age 66 and permanently live in the State, you will get a Free Travel Pass automatically when you are awarded an Invalidity Pension, Blind Pension, Disability Allowance or Carer's Allowance .

How do you know that a person hasnt suffered some form of bad mental trauma??

But because you seee them jump on the Luas with no ticket (due to having a free travel pass that you wouldnt be aware of) then they are automaticly a thief and a scumbag to you.
