Anyone here have an ITX board with an mPICe card they're not using? (Or wouldn't mind being a guinea pig?)

I'm curious if I could actually get my sound card working through mPCIe with adapters, and I'd rather not spend €130 on a board.

I've an mPCIe slot on my extreme6 and z77e-itx.

I can't afford any down time on either, but if you send me the card and cables I'll run it for you.

Physically, yes. Electrically, no. (To the best of my knowledge at least)

right so what I can gather is that it can be either msata, mPCIe or both if it's a combo port. apparently most z68+ boards are combo ports.

the extreme6 is definitely mPCIe, if not both.

the itx is harder to tell, cause it has a mPCIe on top where the WiFi card is. I'm not sure if the port underneath the PCB is just msata or a combo.

Well I just ordered an mPCIe adapter from eBay, dunno how long it'll take, but probably a while being eBay.

If this works, I'll probably be going for ASRock's board. I'd like the crazy VRM ASUS one, but I'm not bothered paying that much money (unless the ASRock doesn't OC very well? (as in, at all)).

I'm a bit concerned about the x1 slot PCB fitting, but I think it should do ok. If not, I can always get an x1 extension ribbon and tuck the PCB down by the PSU.

Current setup: 2 Desktops 2 Panels, 1Kb 1Mouse + Synergy.

While this works like a charm, I now want to move back to a dual display main, and thus RDP for the secondary(only way to switch the monitor over is with the OSD which is slow as hell). Primary thing is to be able to pop in and out, whats the fastest RDP product to connect/disconnect(all local, I use teamviewer when I'm away)?

Chrome has a remote desktop add-on. It's what I use to connect to my server. Pretty quick, just open a new tab, click on Remote Desktops, click on the one you want, enter password, and you're connected within a second after that.

I only found out about it recently myself. It's a wonderful little extension. I suppose it's a bit silly in the sense that you're connecting to another machine on the same network over the internet, but it's not exactly slow. I've watched 720p stuff over the connection before and it's great. Not quite perfect, but more than watchable.

Tried it. Its close, thats for sure. But the PIN(while I understand its purpose) is a pain.

I'm trying to eat my cake and have it here, so I'm probably not going to find much better.

Yeah, I couldn't find a nice way around it, except to use something like asdf as a PIN, means you don't have to take your hand off the keyboard.

Just used the Windows one. Its pretty nice.

Allows me to have a shortcut to it. Double click, single click, there. And less compression. Downside, wont work for the Ubuntu "Server" outside. Will do the windows one, so that 2/3.

Wondering how secure it is. Time for a googling on that.

I never thought to run it through command line (no excuse). I'm using the server as my main machine at the moment, but I'll definitely give this a go when I get my gaming rig back up and running.

That's a great add on, I've never bothered with the chrome web store tbh but after using that I think it's time I had a look around.

Do you know of any other good ones?

ScriptSafe is the Chrome version of NoScript for Firefox. There's also AdBlock Plus. The only other one I use is Remove Scrollbars (self-explanatory) as I find it much cleaner, especially with Windows padding set to 0.
