I happen to think Bono is a sound lad.

You should have had more than a look at the books. They were originally going to be called "Men who Hate Women" and the author, Stieg Larsson, was a journalist who wrote extensively on violence towards women in Sweden. The whole Millennium set up was not a million miles from his own publishing career, although in real life, there was no Salander.

He's taken offence plenty of times in the past. He also (not that it excuses his occasional arrogant and smug behaviour) suffers from bipolar disorder and famously went missing for several days after walking out of a play he was starring in back in the 90s.

I do like QI but I can see why some people get annoyed by him.

I can see how this would not appeal to those batting for the other side. The only part of this program which has longevity is that it still gives hope to over 40 males that there may still be loose intelligent attractive women out there.

While attraction may be subjective and entirely from an individual perspective, I think you're WAY off the mark categorising any of the women these actresses portrayed as "intelligent".

I don't think there was a vacuuous stereotype the writers missed tbh, from the overtly camp gay men, to the superficial woody allen-esque insecurities and innane ramblings of the four main characters.

There's a lot of snobs/stuck up posters on AH.
Don't get me wrong I love coming to AH and having a read & I know most is a piss take but the amount of threads/posts slating the lower & working class is a bit much.
The thread about the rich girl ranting proves it. Yeah fair enough she's only young but the arrogance from her towards working class people was unbelievable. If that was a girl from say Ballyfermot talking about horses & how her dad was a good tiler for example (not good Eg I know) with a really common Dublin accent I don't think she'd be getting pity from the majority of posters. Maybe she would but I doubt it.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but some of the posts on here leave me gob-smacked and wondering do these people live in the real world.. But then I realise it's only the internet...

The fúcking rambling, internal monologue on that show has become the mainstay of every piece of garbage aimed at women and is one of the worse legacies of that programme.

And I always find that notion of a cúnt with a cocktail, who loves shoes and yet still (sigh) struggles to find a man that loves her, being somehow a symbol of female empowerment completely fücking retarded.

Carrie was a freelance journalist who spent the ten years of the show writing about her lack of understanding of the opposite sex, and when she wasn't trying to latch on to gay men, she spent ten years chasing a man she called "Big", who showed little interest in her, only when it suited him?

Based on that premise alone I'd say she was more than just a bit dim, and as for the others, while professionally they may have been portrayed as capable, their personal lives were completely unrealistic, especially the swinging sexpot character that was Samantha!

If she was drunk and from Ballyfermot and ranting and slurring like that posh one, some people pitying the latter here would be calling her a skanky junkie knacker etc etc. Both scenarios deserve criticism but they certainly wouldn't get 50/50 criticism.

I've mixed feelings about her.

I agree with you that she'd have got dog's abuse if she were, for example, from the North side of Dublin and bragging about getting social welfare benefits. And I'm not sure the video'd be removed from so many sites so quickly.

On the other hand, I don't like to say too much negative about her because she's apparently only 16 (I'm not sure where this is coming from though, and she looks a lot older) and I presume the video was posted online without her consent.

I do think she's deserving of some criticism, but this being the internet, I can easily imagine it going too far.

I feel unbelievably sorry for her. Any of us who drink have said/done stupid things under the influence.

Yeah she comes across as a bit of a pain, but absolutely does not deserve the publicity she's getting over it. Some of the stuff I have read that people have written about her is scandalous- they don't even know her. And even if they did, you still shouldn't say those horrific things.

I just hope she'll be ok- regardless of her age, I hope she'll be able to get over it without feeling too bad. Those who posted it up should be absolutely ashamed of themselves- silly and all as the girl may have been, they are a million times worse than her.
