Random words in posts are highlighted in blue like links.
They seem to be spam or something.
When I hold my mouse over them they put up like in the picture.

Any idea what's going on?

I've been getting the same thing on boards for the last 2 days. I thought it was just me. It's happening on boards only. I run firefox 17.0.1, Windows 7 home premium 32 bit.

Disable and remove all addons in Chrome and Firefox. Run Malwares Anti Malware and ensure the browser is closed when running it.

Just sounds like a bad add-on and probably not malware or virus, but do scans anyway.

Interesting. As a matter of interest, did both of ye have the extension/addin X-notifier or WebMail Notifier installed on yer browsers? That could be the problem.

They are both email checking extensions I use developed by the same guy - X-notifier for Chrome and WebMail Notifier for Firefox. In a previous version he added in 3rd party software that did more or less the same problem you had - added links and pictures to webpages for advertising. The latest updated removed them due to widespread disapprovement by the community that use the extensions. Whatever 3rd party software he had, some extension ye were using is using it too.
