Gabriele wrote: » Italy has Casa pound, and others ( which are neo fascist groups) I don't know about Spain. But this is not really the point. We are not talking about fascist, we are talking about racism (the two things are related, but are different things). We are talking about insult when walking in city centre, or different treatment in stores, or being insulted for your accent, etc.. . The creation of organized groups is only an escalation, but everything is born from ignorance..
Noel Kinsella wrote: » You seem very unhappy in Ireland its a terrible place, just as bad as Poland (of which I personally have no experience) why are you still here ? You never answered my last question, surly "home" must be better than here surly there must be somewhere better than this terrible place.
BidillyBo wrote: » Oh yea that level of racism is definitely on par with black people being told not to go to a country for a big football tournament. Ireland is certainly just as racist as poland.
Franticfrank wrote: » I've experienced this on multiple occasions. I remember waiting in line for the cinema and a black person cut in front of me. I confronted him and was promptly accused of discrimination, just because he was black. It also happened on a crowded train - I booked a seat and a black lady was sitting in it. I asked her to move, saying my name was displayed above but she wouldn't leave the seat...trying to label me as some kind of racist for making her move. I'm not sure but I think that the word 'racist' is thrown around a little too often in this country.

BidillyBo wrote: » He asked for example of how Ireland was as racist as those other places. Being told your not welcome somewhere isn't the same as being told don't go over to this country or you could be beaten to death.Ireland is nowhere near as racist as Poland, like your trying to make it out to be
The_Kew_Tour wrote: » and your 2, 3 and 4 so on are?
Brutal Deluxe wrote: » Okay, fine. It's not as racist as having your life threatened. But it's still pretty messed up to be intimated out of a job because you're not Irish. What?
danslevent wrote: » I think the awkwardness is funny sometimes though, irish people sometimes feel uncomfortable even saying "black people" as if pointing out their skin colour is rude and shouldn't be mentioned. "Coloured" insinuates they have been coloured in

kiffer wrote: » Are you saying that travellers don't apply for jobs or are you saying that there is little/no discrimination against them when they do? Either way I have no stats to hand, just years of hearing various racist employers saying they'd rather hire a black person than a traveller and only one that said they'd never hire a black person... His position was that "african blacks couldn't be trusted. An american black person would be ok but would have friends that where black and african and would drop in more CVs so he'd have to interview and turn away more of them away, which would make him look racist" (yeah... That's what would make you "look" racist)
Noel Kinsella wrote: » I lived in Italy and they are very racist but I think the media makes them that way every time you turn on the TV there is news of rapes by Roma Gypsies or gangs of Africans, Murder.... Robberies.... the media may be teaching the public to "HATE" or maybe they are just telling it like it is I dont know but its very bad there. I was in a groceries shop in Rome and all the Italians were picking up fruit and veg to squeeze it as they do to pick the fresh ones, a black man came in and started picking up apples to pick a nice one and the owner roared at him "dont pick up the fruit like that use the plastic gloves" but myself or the Italians were not using gloves ! It gave me a bad feeling in my stomach to be honest. But then if you arrive in Italy as a refugee you are not housed and fed and given spending money like here you are basically left to rot thats why there is so much crime and prostitution robberies etc It really pisses me off when non nationals complain about Ireland because I "KNOW" they have it good here.
This is clear just from reading boards, anyone remember when that TD declared that he would no longer deal with "Black Africans"? It was absolutely disgusting the amount of people defending him over that.
