I had seen that, yeah. I think that's a custom mITX board though? What I didn't notice before is the second PCI-E slot... This is making me a little sad actually, then that the HWVS order is already on its way...

Ah, well that's just... They have a Z77 model too!

Oh well. My next rig will be in a Prodigy (2) so.

The problem is that board is not standard M-atx it uses a non standard mobo from a shuttle barebones pc. the other m-atx prodigy builds require you to completely rebuild the back of the case

Im really tempted to build a new rig in the prodigy but itx and watercooling seem like the tools of the devil (yes i will be watercooling my next rig :pac:)

It's not standard, but from the looks of it it's just an extended mITX board. Should fit in with no modding.

Is there such a thing outside of oem. I know the mobo from that build was taken from this but ive never seen a board like it on its own

Not sure. I guess you could PM the guy and see how he got his. Maybe Shuttle will send them out if asked nicely enough or something.

he bought the whole unit and just took the board out. he says on another forum that they did offer to sell him the board alone as a spare part but that it cost 85% of the barebones cost anyway

yeah the whole unit is going for over 400 on hwvs, there was a link in that forum for open box ones on newegg but even that would work out about the same once you factor in shipping and VAT. The BIOS's are meant to be cack on those boards too. It is a great looking build alright but definitely in the money to burn zone

i love these prodigy cases and wish they had a similar design in a bigger size but unfortunately i find all their other cases quite hideous.

I'm not going to lie, I've been in contact with shuttle US, shuttle Taiwan and now forwarded to shuttle Germany. I really want that board.

bios is meh by today's standards, but I get PCIe3, PCIe2x4, msata, mPCIe, 4 DIMMS, and it slots right in? sold.

its actually a real pity bitfenix didn't take more time designing the prodigy. an matx motherboard actually fits in it just fine without needing to widen the sides. modding is needed to fit standoff screws and PCI cages. massive oversight.

im considering it myself, not sure whether it would be more worthwhile for me to give it my first go at modding though (as in try to fit an mATX in rather than the shuttle)

would the lower drive cage in the prodigy provide any support for the motherboard overhang with the shuttle board? also, is the optical drive cage removable? (i would probably want to be throwing in a h100 or similar at the top)

i need a new build for editing 2.5k raw video, and was thinking that for such a setup i might need as much ram as possible (64gb) whereas this would only ( :pac: ) fit 32, but im not sure how much difference it would make in real world use. wont be overclocking so the bios being a bit behind the times isnt really an issue.

I should probably just go in for an 800d or something but i love the look and size of this case.

the 5.25" drive is held in with 4 screws and easily removable.

I dont think any 1155 based board can take 64gb of ram, so it'd have to be x79/2011.

im waiting on 2 contacts in Ireland to get back to me wrt pricing.

The motherboards part number is WBAC-FZ77.

Anyone notice that the Samsung 830 ssd's took a (relatively) big price hike on HWVS recently?

The 128gb was 79.99 the other day. Went to put in my order this morning and its at 94.99.
Not sure whether to hold out a day or 2 to see if it drops back cos a few other parts I'm after seemed to take a lesser price hike over the weekend too.

Yeah, I was noticing it too. The 256GB ones have gone up. I was looking to buy one or two. The M4s seem to be a bit dearer than I remember, but I wasn't keeping my eye on them. I hope they're not going up for tight demand with Christmas builds.

DynDNS isnt free anymore? F'cking hell. Pretty much every router is setup for them, hardcoded into the firmware. Using a windows client for now while I weight up 3rd party firmwares. Pain in me hole.

I noticed that the 830's rose by 10 quid on Saturday and then another fiver yesterday. I'm buying one tomorrow and its leaving a nasty after taste but there is nowhere else that sells cheaper.

Along with that I was gonna buy the Sapphire 7850 2GB (~183).

Then I got an email from dabs yesterday that they are selling the XFX 7850 2gb+ 2 free games(Dirt Showdown and Sleeping Dogs) for 179. Again I thought great price but they charge €14+ for postage which is pretty freaking steep considering the charge is £2 to the north

And looking around I see OC have the MSI 7850 (about 205 including postage from overclockers). That includes Farcry3 and maybe even Sleeping Dogs also.

It's always the way, just when you think you've your mind made up on a purchase you're back where you started

Had a look around the site for an alternative SSD.
The Intel 330 series 180Gb is looking like better value at 114 than the 128Gb Samsung at the moment.
It's an extra 19 euro, but it's got a nice bit of extra space for the money and seems to be a good drive.
Although if the Samsung 830 drops back to 80 euro it's a no brainer.
Really unsure about which way to go now. Anyone have any experience with the Intel 330's?
