God it was the drink of the devil and I could often guzzle my way through 2 litres a day and sometimes even three litres. Its effect on the body should not be underestimated and it is the worst thrash you can pour down your throat. I have completely substituted Coke for Sparking Water and drink about 1.5l to 2l of Sparking Water each day now instead and good share of tap water also. After giving up Coke I noticed several distinct changes in my body, I have more energy and quite often before would go for a glass of coke first thing in the morning to get that sugar/caffeine hit straight to the brain to wake me up. I wake earlier in the mornings as I can sleep better at night as before I would be in such a caffeinated state that I could go to bed at 11pm and not fall asleep until 3am. This would lead to irritability and a bad mood the following day. This was all being caused by Coca Cola and it is fair to say that I was well and truly addicted to it since I was a child. The taste of it now makes me gag and I don't know how I guzzled so many thousands of litres down through the years, no doubt my internal organs must be in repair mode the last few months. One of the things which spurned me to give it up was my Dentist who when I visited her in January said your teeth are good now but then showed me some pictures of teeth destroyed by Coke and my vanity took over and it helped me get rid of the scourge of Coke from my life. I had already made a number of New Years Resolutions before that and I added giving up Coke to my list. It's amazing the influence a woman can have, had my Dentist been male I would probably have got all defensive to him! I began to wean myself off Coke and onto Sparking Water during January and my tolerance for the Water increased and I began to guzzle it instead of the black liquid I had drank for so long. Nine months ago today on Feb 15th I poured the last 2ltr bottle of Coke down the sink and said goodbye to this horrible drink. By June I had lost nearly a stone weight by just substituting Sparking Water instead of Coke. My skin has given me far far less problems this year wheras before I nearly always had some acne, zit or pimple on my face and body, I would say these incidences have reduced by around 75% by just cutting out this sugar laden drug. Also and one of the nice things is by giving up Coke I have saved around €300 - €400 as I would typically drink between 7 and 10 2ltr bottles of Coke each week costing around €1.50 - €2.00 depending on multipacks & offers etc. I now drink maybe 6 to 8 2litre bottles of Lidl and SuperValue sparking water costing €0.49 to €0.79 for 2ltrs and a good share of tap water mixed in now. I prefer the SuperValue water as it has much more Fizz in it so mix them up. 9 months clean and feeling far better!
