“There comes a point in every man’s life when he has to say, ‘Enough is enough,’ ” Armstrong said in a statement.

“The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for our foundation and on me leads me to where I am today — finished with this nonsense.”

Those attitudes support the view that cycling has a long way to go to sort itself out. So long as there are ex-riders and others who are still in the sport saying things like that we can probably be confident that there remains an acceptance of cheating within cycling by some. Hopefully reporting of such views help the case for further fundamental changes to help rid the sport of systematic doping.
