Are parents who get their kids ears pierced selfish?

I mean when their kid is a few months old and the parents get their ears pierced just so they can have a 'prettier' baby with a shiny earring.

The kid has no say and has to go through a bit of pain just because their mother wanted them to have a better appearance.

Read before from a ear specialist that it is less painful when done very young and has no health effects and is less prone to infection.

If it was part of their culture then I'd respect that and wouldn't care. In fairness of all the things done for the sake of "culture", like unnecessary circumcision, ear piercing is way down the list.

Because your ears grow and change as you get older, while it may be the perfect placement for a hole when you are a baby, that may not be the case a few years down the line.

I've never noticed a non perfect placement for earrings before. I'm gonna be walking around the city with a rubber neck now.

some people just want to put out the cutest sexiest kid on the block, which is beyond trashy n I thought I was weird but sometimes what's generally taken for the most down to earth people is in fact away with the birds.

Most girls might get it done when they're older, but surely the choice to essentially mutilate their body should be their own? I'm not against body mods, I have plenty of body mods and love them all, but punching holes into your child's skin for no reason? That's disgusting, IMO.

Wait until they are old enough to decide themselves.

I wasn't allowed get mine done until I was 8. I have 4 in each ear and My tongue done now.

My choice, babies can't decide. My sister had hers done at 6 weeks and she hates it.
