There is no official solution to the problem, just that well hidden Steam beta option to install to a different hard drive.

Even at that, it seems to only support installing new games to a different drive, not moving already installed games around.

Steammover is really the only viable option in that doesn't involve a command window and linkd.exe

The beta steam client allows you to choose where to install each individual game

EDIT: Actually, that didn't answer your question entirely. What you can do is move the entire steam folder to whichever drive, and run it again. Close it, then drag whichever games you want on a different drive to that directory, and when you open steam again, it should show up as not being installed. THEN install each game again to the directory you've moved the game to, and verify the integrity of the files. It'll take a while if you need to shift a ton of games around, but it's the nearest thing to official you'll get

What's the price trend like for monitors?

At the moment 1440p monitors cost half as much as the PC required to make use of them. Except maybe those Catleap jobbies. It's pretty difficult to justify anything over 1080p unless you're a serious enthusiast with a lot of cash.

HD has been around for while now. When will we see the higher resolutions start to come down to more affordable levels?

1920 x 1080 is more than adequate for most people, so the vast majority of monitors produced are up to and 1080p-the more produced the cheaper it is to produce each unit.

Prices of 2560 x 1440/1600 are more expensive, less demand so fewer are produced, ergo manufacturing costs increase. As you say, if you have the cash there are some serious ones
coming soon, e.g. 31" Viewsonic @ 3840 x 2160, read somewhere it will probably retail at approximately the cost as a new midrange car.. so about $28-32K.

I'm thinking about changing my monitor. I have a BenQ 21.5inch which is great, but I've been toying with the idea of a much bigger screen... with out breaking the bank tho.

Would 1920 x 1080 res. be OK looking on a 27inch like this one?

I much much rather get a IPS monitor (such as the Dell u2312hm). While the screen size is smaller, the colour will be ten times better. A 27" monitor at that resolution won't look the best either.

I've been considering this monitor myself.

27" VA panel, 1920x1080. 5ms response time, and supposedly very little motion blur too, though I can't find a good review to verify this. Oh, also: VESA mount! Wooptie-****in-doo!

Also this one. Similar specs, but 3000:1 vs. 1200:1 of the AOC. Much deeper blacks. The disadvantage being that the frame itself doesn't look nearly as nice; tacky piano black.

Any reason that the Dell Ultrasharp U2412M is £40 more expensive than the U2312HM, it has to be more than just the extra inch?

Tbh it's a matter of personal opinion, some people say that with 1080p on a 27" the pixels look a bit too big due to the pixel count per inch (PPI), and as such not ideal for text etc.

From wiki:

1920 x 1080 a 23" has a PPI of 93.3
1920 x 1080 a 27" has a PPI of 81.6
1920 x 1200 a 24" has a PPI of 94.0
1920 x 1200 a 27" has a PPI of 83.8

I went from 1680 x 1050 Hp TN's to u2412 1920 x 1200 IPS for a bit, now Samsung 27" 1920 x 1080 TN's.

Im no expert, nor is my eyesight great but my experince has been:

Colours and image wise, the Dell were streets ahead of the Hp's, made them look dull and washed out. Went with the Samsungs mainly for 120hz refresh rate. The blacks were blacker on and there was a better viewing angles the Dells. There is light bleeding on the Samsung's, but to my untrained eye the image colour quality and vibrancy is just as good.

I dont see much of a difference pixel count either between then again i use mine mainly for gaming and sit maybe 1.2 mtrs back from the centre screen.

Short version-see if you can try a 27" out before buying, some reviews I have read researching screens come to the conclusion that the colour accuracy on a high quality TN is just as good as a cheaper 6 bit IPS panel and I'd agree.

I've been using a 35" or so HDTV as a screen for a while. I'm getting sick of it and I think I'll move to the random abundance of HD monitors swanning around my house.

Unless a big screen is really high resolution it just hurt your brain.

My problem is I have no middle ground.
A 22" screen looks tiny to me now, even if I use 3 of them.

Life is tough.:p

That's a sweet res., is it an Xperia? Just checked and mine is 306PPI (S III), however if I sat the same distance from my screens as I do when using the phone, I'd burn the retinas from my head:D

Yep, Xperia S. Currently the top dog in terms of ppi(though its not AMOLED ) but I doubt that'll last long. Its VERY hard to distinguish a pixel which is nice.

im fair ****ing pissed off. havent been this mad for along time. Its been a nightmare this whole watercooling experience. If I could turn back time, I wouldnt go near it.

Eboggles, have a look at QPad's MK-50. Very similar to the Das, choice of switches. If you want a backlight (blue) the MK-80. If you want red, MK-85.

Headshot, it will be, yeah, as long as it's allowed to dry it will be fine. My point is that it should be left in as it acts as a cover for the pins.

One of the things I'll be ordering is a H61 motherboard for a server. If you want I can send that to Tea for you. You won't have SLI or anything like that, but it'll give you a working machine at least. I'd send one to you now, but I don't have a spare 1155 board.

thanks for the very kind gesture but I think ill just get another ASRock Z77 Extreme4. Theres a fella selling one on adverts and if I can get that for below 100, ill be semi happy.

I know I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Please, please, don't let this put you off watercooling. Shadow's distasteful sense of humour aside, it is great, and you'll love it when it's up and running, it just sucks that you have a bunch of bad pain-in-the-arse problems all at once.

Edit: And actually, if ASRock come back to Tea with positive things, I'll buy your motherboard from you. I was planning on using a ZZ7 Ex4 anyway (assuming it lines up time-wise, etc.) so you hopefully shouldn't be out of pocket by too much.

well that was more fun of watercooling as a concept, not against you directly. you said feck all in that post, just that your experience with watercooling is bad.
So i made fun of watercooling, which i think is more hassle and costs a fortune, then actual benefit. ( thats just my opinion )

i see you are really upset, so ill just let the stuff you said slide, as i am pretty sure you just upset at the moment and a bit jumpy. Obviuosly your watercooling did not got the way it should go.

i did not follow your watercooling experience and each post, so i dont know what went wrong in it, but just from respect to you, and that we are quite tight community here ill take that picture off.
