Words and phrases that are only used by tabloid newspapers

Tabloid newspapers are particularly bad for using words and phrases that no one ever in their right mind would use in conversation.

"Boffins" is one. As is "romp".

For example: The defendant, Joe Bloggs, 42, who resides in a €600,000 house in South Dublin, arrived in court wearing a grey suit and tie.

Oh and while I'm at it, references to people's clothing in court cases!

That's another thing-constant and irrelevant references to people's ages, as well as the blatantly unnecessary preface of their name with a two word description, you know, like "Pop Svengali, Louis Walsh, 60", "Legendary Crooner, Dickie Rock, 104", etc. etc.
