reading recommendations

Hi all, I'm interested in getting a bit more insight into the behind the scenes dealings of the upper echelons of Irish society throughout the boom and bust. I'm looking for some proper investigative books. I plan to hit the library tomorrow and pick up the two recent Shane Ross books The Bankers and Wasters as from what I know of him I respect the man, his background, and what he stands for.

Would any of the after hours crew be able to recommend any other books of a similar nature. I'm asking after hours because I know a number of posters here are informed on these issues and would like to know about any that you felt were particularly interesting and well researched.

Only book I can recommend and I dunno if it would be of any use or interest to you is called Ship of Fools by Fintan O'Toole

I think those are more anecdotal than investigative

I'd recommend 'The Making of the Celtic Tiger, The Inside Story of Ireland's Boom Economy' by Ray Mac Sharry and Padraic White

Good luck with that. More chance of unravveling the mystery of the marie Celeste than getting a handle on those shenanigans. If you find anything out, forward it on to the DPP - he hasn't a feckin clue, apparently.
