I was getting all these weird messages on my FB today about private messages being displayed on people's profile timelines etc.
As per usual at first I thought it was just another facebook scam. Being a web developer I'm always wary of online security and had a quick read of one of the warning posts
Guys, that FB lark about private messages being posted on your timeline is true. Think it only applies to pre 2010/2011. Please hide them from your timeline because I cant recall all my messages back to that time and I'm sure there was a reason I PMed instead of posting it on your wall!!
Anyway then I discovered there is some truth to it.
I opened my timeline and clicked on the link 2009. Low and behold I can see some private messages I received there under the heading "141 friends posted on Stunmer's timeline."
These were not just wall posts but my some private messages received by me either through chat or normal FB message. I thought only I must be able to see these as they are private.
I then checked some friends pages and I can see the same sort of messages appearing on their timeline all pre 2011/2010. I wasn't too sure were they 100% definitely private messages until I saw a private message sent by me on another friends timeline.
Can other AHers please check your facebook timeline's and see if it happening to them?
This looks like a major bug on FBs part.

Beside "141 friends posted on Stunmer's timeline." on your timeline for each year will appear little pen icon. Click "Hide from timeline". Now the information should not be visible from your timeline for that year any longer.
You cannot make it disappear from anyone else timeline afaik.
