Been out in all of them and had a good time. The one thing I'd say is in current times, not everyone can afford trips abroad. The last foreign stag I went on was in 2008, people simply don't have the money they once had and a trip abroad for a stag is going to cost a minimum of 5/600 quid which is a lot to ask of people these days.

Thanks Sleepy... yea I had been thinking the same thing.. not really fair to organise a weekend and to expect people to shell out!.. which of the Irish destinations did you enjoy most?... sick going to English cities and not getting in anywhere if you have more than 3 friends!

Been on 3 stags so far this year: Lahinch, Carrick-on-Shannon and Carlingford.

Had fun in all of them, Carrick was by far the messiest session but it's geared up for that: the town's main industry seems to be stags and hen partys.

Liverpool would be very cheap.

Ireland I would go Galway.

OP: where do you live? Stag has to be at least 3 hours away.Went to Liverpool for a mates stag (Darts Grand Prix was on there at the time) and had a great time. Have also been to one in Limerick; also had a great time.

The Dam is expensive, and you'd be surprised at how much you'd go through when over there.

Like the +3hours away rule! Im in Donegal... whats Dublin like for getting in places with a group of lads.. is Templebar still closed to stag groups? I heard that the pubs down there decided they wouldnt allow gangs of fellas anymore!

Was at a great one in Limerick, otherwise would suggest Galway. I think Dublin is very expensive.

Aye, Galway or Mayo might suit. You'd get in OK in places in Dublin, but Galway is just more manageable when you have a squadron of messy eejits trailing around after you.

Heading to Liverpool Friday for a Stag

Ryanair Flights were 57 quid return all in
Jury's is 99 for the 2 nights.

With the price of beer, it shouldn't work out any more expensive than a town at home

You see this proves you can get cheaper in England then at home.

The thig is people tend to see the price of flights and hotels and straight away think that it will be more expensive. The fact that Drink is about 60-70% cheaper Liverpool makes it great spot to go.

Organising a Stag for Oct Bank Holiday.

Hard to pick someplace to go. Best Stags I was ever at were Edinburgh, Carrick-On Shannon and Inis Mhor

Foreign trips are too expensive nowadays. €100 pp in a recession is about enough, I think.

We are from Galway (so that's out) ....so was thinking Carrick or maybe Limerick. 2 hrs on a bus is probably enough :-(

I am thinking about Karting or Clay Pigeon Shooting as the activity for the Sat and then crazy drinking ;-)

Anybody do Clay Pigeon Shooting in Adare Manor ? seems to cost €35 pp. (10-15 Shots probably enough for amateurs)

Well Lads,
Im also going on stag party on oct bank holiday weekend, im also partly organising it..
Just looking for ideas on what to that day,drinking only, there will be no outside activity on this stag.drinkin games only.
either at the pub before we go, on the bus, at the hotel or the pub we end up at...was thinking stuff like dance off and losers have to do forfeits. Im open to any ideas ...
there will be approx 40 on the trip

(1) Poker.
(2) "Killer" pool game. Everyone puts in a fiver and gets one or two lives. Miss a pot (two chances off break) and you lose a life. Winner usually buys a load of shots but not compulsory.
(3) Quiz about the most embarrasing things you know about the stag. Random drinks as prizes.
(4) Make a CD for the bus ride with songs that are easy for lads to sing/shout along to.
(5) If anyone is seen drinking with their left hand or pointing at anything they must down their drink. Could add cursing to that.

My advice is stay in Ireland. The local economy needs all the help it can get. Watching the frontline on Tv now, retail is struggling. Killkenny would be a great spot.

Booked my brothers in Bangor in Wales -
€12 return each for bus to and from ferry
€76 sail and rail
€7 per head for Travel lodge, got £17 deal for 3 per room

Organised 2 activities for the saturday, raft building for 3 hours until about 4pm and then a bus pub crawl through the mountains for 3 hours.
But without them 2 things makes for a very cheap night abroad

I don't think Carrick wouldn't be quiet at the weekend any time of the year, but couldn't be sure.

I was best man for my friends wedding last month. We went down to Kilkenny and had the best wknd possible in Ireland. 15 of us got on the bus and got dropped off at uppercourt manor ,a big mansion about 10mins outside Kilkenny. It suited us better than a hotel because we had the whole place to ourselves after a few drinks we tend to get loud.
We stayed in on the Friday night drinking beers, playing FIFA tournament on a cinema screen cos we needed to be fresh ish for go karting the next morning in thomastown. The best karting I've done in Ireland. Saturday night we had dinner in kytlers than hit up a load of bars. Serious selection. Ended up in langtons which has to be the best spot in Kilkenny.
The problem is I have another stag to organise next March and I don't see anywhere better than Kilkenny on a tight budget. Is it bad to just do the exact same thing again? The groom wasn't at the last stag but a few of the lads were.
