If I wanted to created a blog on a .ie unless its a personal name I still have to provide some sort of vat number or proof of business....?

jmcc wrote: » You may be missing a zero or two in that estimate, Sully. Database driven websites (beyond the trivial small footprint (<10MB) MySQL databases) are like icebergs in that the user only sees a small fraction of what is going on in the background. A good site like that would require database servers, webservers and, most expensively, good database architects and marketing. Just for the OP, the web is littered with abandoned me-too attempts at replicating Ebay,Craigslist Donedeal.ie or Adverts.ie. Most of them are built by web developers who completely underestimate the level of advertising, administration and business expertise involved in such a site. Building such a site properly is expensive and hard work. Now you may get some web developer to build some kind of site on Wordpress or Joomla that won't scale beyond a few simultaneous users for around 2K. If that's all you want then Wordpress and some plug-ins might be fine. However if you are going head to head with Donedeal,ie or Adverts.ie then you might need a bit more. Regards...jmcc

I was looking hosting , Irish hosting is expensive but i can buy from Ebay or other us hosting company , which will cost me about $100/Y

Also if you are planning a site with an Irish target market then get hosting inside the euro. Remember if you host in the usa when someone goes to the site the info has to travel to the USA and back....

jmcc wrote: » I think that a high traffic, database backed website would cost somewhat more than 3 to 4k. Large scale database backed websites are things that few web developers have any experience with because they are quite specialised and require a wider range of expertises (database architecture, scripting languages, web design, technology, networking) than a simple Wordpress/Joomla site with a few plugins on shared hosting. Now a Wordpress/Joomla (or even an Open Source clasified adverts script) site might be good to test the idea but large sites tend to be quite different in requirements and costs. Regards...jmcc
