Should do, AFAIK, but I think it usually takes a few days (in my experience anyway) and half the time the package is delivered to you by the time An Post gets around to updating the tracking.

Yeah, once the package reaches Ireland, then the anpost site will update. It is usually delivered the day after that.

I was asked to get a DVI to VGA adapter for a mate in Dublin today . I got it out of peats on recommendation from a staff member of PC World because they had none in stock

:o . While I was walking around to Peats I decided to try maplis and the cheapest one they had was 22.99 !!!!!!!! The funniest thing of the day was the price of a HD 7770 249 Euro . I had to leave that shop because of all the laughing I did . How or why are some of these shops going especially with all the prices they charge . I got it in the end for a 10 in Peats .

built headshots PC the other day, and I want to put this out there, DO NOT BUY THE Thermalright Macho. I already knew what I was doing with it, and I still struggled. it cannot be done on your own. 5 hands are preferred, but you can do it with 4 if you're both skilled gymnasts.

I got damn lucky having a very skinny screw driver to get the last screw, but if you don't, you're not going to get it closed if your motherboard has a heatsink over the mosfets. don't put yourself through the hassle. spend an extra tenner if you have to. its a great cooler, but I won't be doing it again. took longer to assemble than the rest of the PC put together.

So my sound card doesnt fit in my new computer anymore

I thought the mobo sound would do the job but the sound card has better quality and louder

Anyway around this?

I can't quite see what you've got free but could you fit in a lower profile PCI card or do you have a PCI-E x1 slot that you could use?

Mono the volume is up to the max

The GPU's and the big cooler stop any sound card going in there

macho takes top x1 slot, and bottom leaves very little room for GPU to get air. you could try it headshot, just monitor temps?

that's still going to need an x1 slot. you could get a riser cable that will extend it away from the GPU, but your case doesn't have one of those side mounted brackets.

That's disappointing so - or you must be listening to stuff at very high volume? Do you think it's a driver issue or anything? Be sure to grab the drivers from the motherboard's website or the integrated sound card maker's as I've found that Windows ones can be a little ropey.

You can get sound through your graphics card. I know most GPUs that you buy now are capable of it, but you'd need an adapter to split off the sound from hdmi or displayport and these are expensive.

There's USB sound cards too but I can't attest to the quality of these as I've never used them.

Lads, anyone here ever get really slow installs? I'm beginning to think its the ssd I have, nearly everything I try and install recently just hangs, very annoying.

So, my brother's in the US. If he were to bring a few 660 Tis back, would anyone be interested? Probably sold for €30 or so less than HWVS prices.

Some programs take forever to install. Itunes comes to mind. Other large professional suites can be slow because of heavy compression.
If the SSD is hanging, maybe a firmware update would help. Is it just writes that are slow? Check that TRIM is enabled (commands are in the SSD guide in my signature).

Not that the 4250 was bad for what it did!

A 660ti would be completely wasted on me as I wouldn't play any games that would need it. The most demanding game was Metro 2033 but I got sick of that quickly because of the sheer bugginess and awful save system, despite a promising story and style. Another game just let down by the interface.
Most of the time it's L4D2, UT or indie games or getting around to fallout and stalker. The only benefit these see is a substantial SSD, which I already have.

I love how fella in stage was raving how shot pcs are and how they are totally useless machines and being replaced with iPads.

Was quite ironic, as I was watching live feed on my left monitor, boards.ie apple forum on my main, where was I talking with boardsies about iPhone 5, on my right monitor I had a very funny south park episode. In the background I had ventrilo on, so I had a chat with lads and downloading bf3 patch too.

right... building a new PC... and im never buying MSI motherboards again. their drivers FTP site is bloody terrible. 50kbps max download :mad: the realtek sound drivers are 128mb... ive been waiting for an hour for it to download

I think I've had that issue with most motherboard makers for that. Asus, Asrock and MSI have all had very slow websites for considerable lengths of time. Asus had tuned their site up a bit last time I checked but they were the worst offender at one stage.

just hooking up my ax1200. tbh, I'm fairly disappointed. the modular cables are a blessing, but its a long way off what I'd accept as 'silent'.

it was recommended on many forums as being pretty much the quietest in its class, bar a few that turn their fan off under 20% load. its only slightly quieter than my XFX 850W though.

I don't think its a dud, I bought it second hand, but its like brand new. not a spec of dust or anything.
