In fairness I've read a few reasonable reviews on them in the past. Taking a look at the review database, nearly their entire lineup is discontinued. They must no longer be in the PSU business which is why I haven't noticed them recently.

Coolermaster have a lot of crap PSUs as well so I definitely wouldn't blanket recommend them. Is that a 1KW PSU you have in your system with only the one graphics card? :eek:

It's been fine for me, hasn't exploded, but then again this is the only Tagan I have used and obviously I'm trying to flog it. If it was shoddy, I wouldn't sell it, I'd bin it.

Aside from the slightly worrying comment about the 12V rail dropping a bit, it might have been an okay PSU back in the day and you get the modularity in with the deal as well. Most importantly, efficiency has made considerable strides in the past number of years and €50 can buy you an 80+ bronze 450W PSU - not modular now but I think the benefits of a new PSU outweighs the differences. I think €45 is a little expensive for an old PSU but I suppose it's not ridiculous and it's up to the buyers to investigate how well their money is being spent. Modular cables by themselves are worth a bit of money at least.

do you have the original silent pro or the m2?

is it quiet or very quiet? if you ever get a chance, I'd really appreciate it if you could hot wire it so its the only thing running in your rig, and report back on how loud the fan is. another way that I do is disconnect all fans in PC and remove the GPU, running off onboard only, then power it up. the h100 will easily run the PC passive for a while as long as you don't do any prime style stuff.

I'm about to drop money on a new psu, but it has to be modular and damn quiet, and 850W-1000W (only cause I could trifire with a 6990+6970 in the future)

I'm eyeing out the silent pro m2 1000W at €144. I owned the 600W before and it was great. the flat cables are nice and clean, with no rainbow colours on the ends like everyone else :rolleyes:

while not great at being 1kW (only 920W on the 12v rail) its a very good psu. reviews say its very quiet, but they say that about my XFX pro 850W, and it would be the loudest part in my PC by miles when I switch to water on gentle typhoons which will be off unless gaming.

anyone any other suggestions for a psu? modular and damn quiet are what I need. cables don't have to look amazing cause I've got great sleeved extension cables already, but it would be nice

I think its the original Silent Pro 1 - its very quiet tbh esp as I have it mounted so it exhausts at the bottom on the case.

Had a silly thought earlier? Has anyone heard of a custom radiator for water cooling? Copper would tarnish but I assume one can get piping in other conductive materials..

not 100% sure on the shipping. its working out to be €30 cheaper than HWVS, and i get to throw in a few WC parts which are a good few € cheaper than specialtech.

the website is horrible though.

anyone noticed that HWVS has dropped a large number of items? no more fans at all. far fewer 24" monitors.

That was the stuff. Was looking at 19mm sleeving on FrozenCPU for tubing. Not sure though. Just the other day I was thinking on maybe using Mayhems Aurora coolant instead. I've heard mixed things about it though.

The order for my rig worked out at just under €100 cheaper than HWVS, though I didn't look into shipping. And yeah, the website isn't the nicest. The instant search feature is annoying as well because Google re-translates it each time it updates.
