Bathroom Light

Just goy a new blight for the bathroom celing.
Took the old one down and there was only 2 wires grey covering with red middle, neither said it was live or earth.
I put the new light up put the wires in place and it turned on.
Trouble is the light wont switch off just stays on. I didnt touch the light switch when doing this i just turned off all electric to house.
Anyone got any ideas were ive gone wrong?
Do i need a cetain fitting as there only 2 wires not 3 or 4?
Any help be great

yes 100% only 2 cables.
Every other light is working fine>

I know you said you never went near the switch , but does the action of the switch feel a little different in any way , as if its not quite switching on and off ?

would you have shorted the cables causing the switch to weld closed
(you would have to reset the tripswitch or replace the fuse if this happened)

That's what I'm thinking.. a weld on the switch.

IS it LED light?
