Different colour bridesmaids dresses?

I am deciding on bridesmaids dresses at the moment. Just wondering what people think about having the same style dresses but in 3 different colours?

for our wedding we did almost the same colour in two different style dresses there was a slight difference in colour (1 in winter white and 2 in cream)

i had 1 maid of honor who was only 16

and 2 bridesmaids who were both 23.

so it was an easy decision as the 16 year old would have looked ridiculous in the older style.

people were shocked when we first mentioned we were doing different styles but i told them it was our wedding we were doing it our way.

I was bridesmaid for my best friend, one of three and we all wore totally different dresses. Just picked them ourselves. Ended up with black, pink and wine. It still looked fine in the photos and sure everyone knew we were the bridesmaids cos we walked into the church with her. I'm sure they could still remember our faces later on!

Thank god we weren't stuck in one dress as we wouldn't have found one to suit us all.

Oh my God Kooli I always say it's creepy to dress grown women the same! So what if no one knows who the bridesmaids are on the dance floor?

Surely having seem them with the bridal party all day would be enough time to figure them out. I'm having different dresses in different styles in complementary colours.

It wouldn't take away from the bride.

And who cares who the bridesmaids are when it gets to the stage of the night when the dancefloor is packed???

I think it's a great idea, go for it.

I'm also a fan of different style dresses (in the same or different colours).

There is something a bit creepy about dressing three adult women in the same clothes (although I did it myself!)

Yes, I've seen a few online and on "real weddings" on weddingsonline. Worth having a look for these for ideas. Some pulled them off very well and it looked quite unique.

Didn't have different colours but had different styles in the same colour for my bridesmaids as the same dress would never have suited all my bridemaids.I was happy,they were happy,happy days!!

Yeah, I think it's usually lovely. I saw it done recently and the colours and styles didn't look right together but generally if you pick colours that look good together it's fine.

Yes that is fine so long they are all from the same type theme, e.g an autumn theme with burnt orange, green, browns, reds, etc. But I wouldn't have three wildly different colours.
