You will be only able to use your keyboard before windows loads (in the bios,etc) if legacy USB support is turned off, you won't be able to use a USB keyboard/mouse in the BIOS/UEFI (that's maybe why your ps2 keyboard is only working)

The usb mouse works just fine. Maybe I need to install software drivers for the keyboard though.
Although that may prove hard since I'm locked out of windows now. Is it possible the password file is corrupted??

what keyboard do you have? Even the most advanced of gaming keyboards do not require drivers to be used in the BIOS. Does the keyboard work OK in other devices?

Qpad mk-85, only have the old ps2 plugged in atm. I think swapping between the 2 earlier affect the input of pw in some way.

Anyway I was able to go into windows recovery & enter some commands at command prompt to enable admin & reset my pw.

Well I've installed all the stuff from the motherboard Dvd now, & have to install the drivers for the keyboard dvd yet, I'm sure I'll get it working sooner or later, this build your own pc malarky seems to be trial and error for me atm

So I came home this evening to find a delivery from OCUK, new keyboard and Xbox controller, only took 2 days but even more amazing, in amongst all the bubble warp was .......... a packet of jelly tots!!!

Anyone have the Asrock Z77 Pro 3 and know what the option "F6 for Instant flash" means. I pressed it out of accidental curiosity and it looked like it was scanning the external hard drive I have hooked up in some way? Cant find anything about it online.

Well I emailed corsair explaining what had happened excluding the wiring 2 fans to one lead.I received an e-mail from them the following day asking my address as they will be shipping a new controller free of charge..

I was blown away with there speedy reply..

Thats a bios update I suspect, normally you'd just use a USB key, and it'd find the file and flash itself.

New 5770 PMD1G for Crossfire is €115, not soo expensive, but would there be a single card that'd do better? Looking at benches it seems to be a great setup some of the time, and a **** one the rest.

For the cost of two 5770s, you'd be much better off with an overclocked HD7850. €236.50 delivered from Komplett. Much more expensive now, but will pay off in the long run and you could get another 7850 later on for crossfire 7850s. That would kick ass

Hmmm, tempting, but that interim period of going to one the **** GPUs I have here would kill me after the steam sale. And tbh, who'd buy a 5770 nowadays :S

Well, I picked up another sata cable today for my seagate barracuda 2tb hdd. (Already had samsung ssd as my primary drive with os installed)
Problem is windows doesnt seem to detect it, or at the least I can't see it under my computer.

However, it's visible when setting the order of boot drives in the bios. What exactly do I need to do or install to set it up?

AFAIK when you get a hard drive, its totally empty (i.e. no file system or partitions are set up)

Try this:
Type in "computer management" in the search box on the start menu
Go to the disk management tab and you should see that the hard drive is unallocated.
right click on the hard drive and choose "new volume" and follow the instructions given to you by windows

It says GTP is recommended for disks large than 2TB (not 2tb AND larger).

If its not bootable it doesnt make a huge difference, unless you want to split it into loads of partitions.

Be in the post tomorrow, its a good idea to use VGA on one of the side monitors as you might get some tearing on the VGA screen due to the difference between VGA & DVI signal timings iirc.

Might not be as noticeable on the 680, Was o me with the 6970 & 7970's though I had
No issues with the 5970.

maybe screen tearing was more of CF setup, then eyefinity?

damn i really hope it works. if not i will have to buy one more or buy something cheaper. My pc is costing me a little fortune already!

Hoping someone can advice me. I'm in the middle of swapping from the R3 case to the silverstone ft02 but my psu fan is facing in towards the computer not out which I presume it should be. The screws won't line up any other way
