I'm surprised noone has mentioned The Swan yet?? If you miss venues like Coppers or Havanas from back home its the place to go for the late night shift in Stockwell. An Irish club straight across from the tube station & open until 6am only on weekends, served chicken & chips etc around 4am which is included in the entry fee!

Mentioned this at the quiz this evening. There are a number of different companies doing outdoor movie screenings this summer. They're great for dates and nights out with some mates. Check the FAQs re bad weather policies and you can normally BYO food and drink.

Somerset House: http://www.somersethouse.org.uk/film Can't say I've heard great things about them. Expensive and they don't cancel in bad weather, meaning no refunds.

The Jack the Ripper tours are good fun. There are lots to choose from, but whenever I am over, I go with this:

The last guide we got was a Beefeater in the Tower of London (day job - he didn't actually do the tour dressed up!) and seemed to know everything about every theory etc. Really entertaining. Wear comfortable shoes!

My colleague's son is doing some sort of electronic dj set tomorrow night if anyone's into that kind of music. I said I'd spread the word for her anyway:

London Modular Alliance are a force to be reckoned with. The combined skills of Koova, Yes Effect and Pip Williams are currently turning a lot of heads with their unique sounds.

This trio of electronic enthusiasts share a deep passion for analog modular synthesisers and the unrivalled sounds they can conjure. From weird, downtempo grooves to abstract electro and driving techno, the music created will never conform to a set regime.

The nature of modular synths means all material produced is improvised live, on the fly. At present, the word 'live' has mixed connotations. London Modular Alliance shun the safety of the computer and it's pre-programmed commands. Instead, they're intent on pushing boundaries and creating a truly live experience through their living, breathing, modular machines. Sometimes experimental. Often unpredictable. Radioactive Man is Keith Tenniswood, a producer, musician and DJ known mainly for his partnership with Andrew Weatherall in The Two Lone Swordsman – but now is mainly focused on his solo work as Radioactive Man.

It's been 4 years since his last album "Growl", but h
e’s now ready to release the hotly anticipated ‘Waits and Measures’ on WANG Trax this summer. It follows two vinyl EPs that sold out instantly. This has re-claimed his status as one of the top UK machine-funk specialists.

On Friday 31st August "Rude Machine" present the London Modular Alliance Live! with an awesome electro modular showcase.

Also on the night: Radioactive Man (DJ set) and live performance from Yes Effect & Jon Oakley.

Hey Folks,

This coming weekend there are some films being shown in a cricket ground near where I live In Leyton. These range from children’s films to action and thriller type stuff. Anyhow it’s free and it might be worth going to (it’s an open air thing so could be cold).

I'm heading to London for a few 9 days; all suggestions will be appreciated! I was gonna get the London Pass for 6 days but I'm open to cheap/free suggestions of places to visit preferably in Zone 1,2 & 3 as I'm getting a travel card.
